Really curious to see what Olesz can/will do with this talent around him.

Do you really think they'd just eat that contract in the minors (while having Huet still on the books?) If so...then they'll be about 6.1mil under the cap to start the season.

Seems really Kopecky-esque player on paper.

Both from Czech

Kopecky - 6'3 203 - 29 yrs old

Olesz - - 6'1 220 - soon to be 26

Kopecky - 338gms - 37g - 58a - 95pts - -19 - 201pims - 149hits - 35blks - .74 sht %

Olesz - 349gms - 57g - 75a - 132pts - -9 - 112pims - 149hits - 53blks - .79 sht %

I agree. I'm not sold on him being a bust, especially from the team he came from.

That said I'd still like him to earn his spot.

On the Hossa front--

Demitra's jersey #38 was raised by Marian Hossa to the rafters of the Ice Hockey stadium in Trencin.

I kind of get that sense when every time he's brought up to coaches/management - that they make a point not to include him with the core/group or saying every time they're not sure where or if he fits in - almost directly indirectly telling him....better bring it, because you're 3+ mil contract doesnt mean they need you.

I don't know about that. Stan pretty much said he's on the team today. They just arent sure "where" on the team he is.

Ahh....didn't see that. Everything I was reading/seeing after getting him...seemed like a lot of uncertainty....but its all in how it's read I guess.

Just doing the math, with Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa, Bolland, Brunette, Frolik, Bickell, Mayers, Carcillo, Stalberg (even though some dont like him, he wont start in Rockford..)...there's probably 2 forward spots up. Hear alot about Kruger, and then the Smith love..but I don't think both start up unless there's a trade. Olesz just hasn't been spoken of much...unless, as you said, Scooter boy did today.

Oh...and Scott is probably a lock.

Well unless there is a trade for a Center I think Kruger is a lock. You/We have very little depth at Center.

Brunette-Toews-Kane

-----------Sharp-Hossa

Bickell-Bolland-Frolik

Mayers-Kruger-Carcillo

I see one forward spot being up for grabs.

I left Stalberg out as I don't see him top 6. Nor do I want to see him in the Top six. Same with Olezs.

Morin, Smith, Saad will all probably get good looks, but all probably end up in Rockford.

I'm right with you on the lines/combos and thinking that Kruger starts up and Smith down on the Rock

I think/wonder if Kruger will get some time between Hossa/Sharp (2 vets)...then the Mayer C for Stalberg/Carcillo/Olesz on the 4th line...or maybe Olesz centering there as well.

Def a lot of options...and Sharp being out of camp sucks.

Actually with Sharp out they have more opportunity to screw around with other C options. IE Mayers, Kruger, Frolik, ect ect... I don't think Sharp, Kane, Toews, any Vet needs much training Camp.

I also know for a fact Toews and Kane would prefer Sharp on their wing. A trade for a 2nd line Center would be awesome, although very doubtful. They do have many assets to trade AND Cap Space though.

Should be interesting.

I also think who'm ever goes down to Rockford wil have call ups through out the season. I didn't even add Beach in there because really, bottom 6 depth is awesome and he too doesn't fit in the top six.

Olezs and Hossa is interesting too. I'm not quick to throw Olezs under the bus. He was good at times on a really, really, bad team. Might just be Hossa's new ***** and also might surprise a lot of those slamming him without allowing the chance or seeing him try.

So I read this thread and . . . I've missed you guys, LOL. But I'm really confused as to who's who. PSR has pmxc's avatar; pmxc has a mullet and TCD has a bastardized version of the same mullet.

And MassHavoc is a Purdue fan? Are you sure you're not my husband? My nemesis is my husband! Hee.

As for the Hawks (to be at least slightly on-topic so Mass doesn't slap me with a violation on my first day back), I only saw pics of Kane, Toews, and Keith today and all look good and well-rested. I'm jealous of everyone who's able to go to training camp and am so looking forward to this season getting started. God I've missed hockey.

Duncan Keith came into Camp in freakish shape...he actually broke a piece of workout machinery during his fitness test today. This team is going to be beastly this year!

You see Carcillos comment on that. LOL! Keith broke it while he was watching apparently.

No, what did he say? Litterely not one guy came into camp not in better shape than last year. If we stay relatively healthy and don't lose and stars for long periods of time, we will be the team to beat this year. I'm sure other teams probably came into Camp in great shape, too...but I'd bet anything that no other team from top to bottom has the killer instinct that this one does!
