More Rumors:
Wild Interested in Penner Per Michael Russo
"With Koivu out, Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher continues to look for center help. He's had a lot of communication, but Fletcher has also shown interest in some top-six wingers.
According to sources, Fletcher has talked to Edmonton GM Steve Tambellini about power forward Dustin Penner, a four-time 20-goal scorer. He's got a year left at $4.25 million, and for the Wild, which is $950,000 from the salary-cap ceiling, to make any trade for a player of that price, it would have to give up salary in a deal.
So far, Fletcher seems hesitant to trade any significant players from his lineup because of the risk of fouling up chemistry."

Marty Reasonor too Vancouver
Both Ben Kuzma and Tony Gallagher from the Province speculate that Reasoner is a likely target for the Canucks. Gallagher reports that Raffi Torres says Reasoner 'would be a good fit'.

Eastern Conference Teams Showing Interest in Wild
Toronto and Tampa Bay seem to be showing a ton of interest in the Minnesota Wild. Not only have they had scouts at the last few games, both home and away, these are also scouts that are not the normal handful in attendance at most home games. Also, but to a lesser extent, the New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens have also had irregular scouts at Wild games, both home and away. Does it mean anything? Maybe not. Then again........perhaps. My thoughts are that Toronto could take on cap space if Fletcher were interested in freeing up money. Tampa Bay, NYR and Montreal are probably hanging around waiting to see if the Wild will fall out of the playoff hunt and become sellers. Who couldn't use a goalie like Theodore or a player like Brunette for a run at the Stanley Cup?

Foligno
The Sens are jetting vets outta Ottawa faster than Frank & Theresa can serve suicidal Buffalo wings at the Anchor Bar. I'm hearing that Buffalo are interested in the versatility of winger/centre Nick Foligno to upgrade their forward ranks. Getting Foligno would afford Buffalo flexibility to move Hecht.

Rumour: Adam Foote to the Flyers.
According to three sources, one very close.

Boynton has been placed on waivers

:yep:

please someone claim him!!!!! Please...

It really doesn't matter because he'll be off our roster/cap if we need the spot/space because:

If hes not claimed he would probably be sent to Rockford. Possible move coming after hes claimed/cleared???

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. He can remain up if needed to play or sent down if the spot/space is needed. It's a shame he couldn't fill the bottom pairing role well enough considering that's probably what we'll end up receiving if/when a move is completed and the dollar amount he's making (minimum). He filled in well for us last year adding some much needed sandpaper, got his name on the Cup, and this is most likely his swan's song.

Blackhawks close on defenseman
Jesse Rogers of ESPN Radio broke a rumor last week where he identified Edmonton defenseman Ladislav Smid (among other players) as a possible target of the Blackhawks. The Hawks have had multiple scouts at a recent Edmonton game and Hawk scout Martin Lapointe was recently seen at back-to-back Oil games (one at home, one in Minnesota). With the waiver of Nick Boynton today, it would appear the long-rumored deal for a defenseman is imminent. Some have theorized the Hawks might also be interested in Jim Vandermeer— though sources tell me the Hawks are looking for a younger defenseman with more upside. A source told me the Hawks did have an offer on the table to Boston forMark Stuart (prospect and a drat pick) that Boston passed on in favor of the bigger deal invovling Blake Wheeler and Rich Peverley. Another player the Hawks are rumored to be looking at is Brett Clark of Tampa Bay, per Tim Sassone of the Daily Herald. Jesse Rogers, Tim Sassone, Jim Matheson

Either one of those guys looks pretty good. Both would be great - Clark has more offensive upside it looks like ... and Smid could fill that penalty killing role pretty well.

I wonder if they would go for 2 defensemen?

I'd bet Stan would love to be able to do that and wouldn't put it past him to try now that the Hawks can absorb almost 2.5 worth of yearly cap hit right now.

I wouldn't worry about that too much, the Flyers have choked more often than the Canucks and the Hawks combined :D

The Flyers are said to still be interested in obtaining a veteran goaltender and are looking at Florida's Tomas Vokoun, who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. The Flyers would be giving up a forward that Panthers GM Dale Tallon is familiar with.

Versteeg to Florida?

Man, the Blues are confusing.

I guess shaking things up/rebuilding makes sense seeing as how they've definitely underperformed this year, but a healthy Halak really makes all the difference and I don't think the team is as bad as their record shows.

They've got a great goalie, some tough forwards and some promising young defense. Seems like all they need is a couple legitimate scoring threats and they'd be in pretty good shape. Richards or Parise would be a nice fit I imagine.

I dunno. They're weird.

EDMONTON, Alberta (CBS) – A published report says the Blackhawks are still hoping to acquire defenseman Ladislav Smid from the Edmonton Oilers.

But the Montreal Gazette reports the Oilers aren’t about to give up Smid easily. They spent five years developing Smid after winning him in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks, the newspaper reported.

The Oilers want the Blackhawks to give up one of their top prospects in exchange, the Montreal Gazette reported. Specifically, they want Nick Leddy, who was traded from the Minnesota Wild to the Blackhawks last season, the newspaper reported.

Leddy was sent to the Blackhawks in exchange for Cam Barker, and has been shuttled between Chicago and the farm club in Rockford. He also made the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
