Unfortunately with pretty much all free agent signings, the first year in is usually either subpar or a write-off. Throw Taillon into that bucket as well. He follows a long list of failed Cub free agent starting pitchers going back to 2017.
So given that and Stroman's track record, do we really think signing him for 4 years at age 32 given his track record is a prudent move? And if they do, what does that say about the alleged revamp of the farm system? I would rather have Hendricks for 4 years at that price than Stroman.
