Not.

The.

Point.

But.........if Boggs hit .302 his entire career, he never gets to 3,000 hits etc and never puts up the stats that help him become and AS, and get MVP talk.............. and has a career OPS+ of 82 he does not make the HOF.

You keep making dumb comparisons. Yaz Boggs. Show me a guy in the Hall of Fame, that has no totals yet has very large differences in their splits? Show me that guy.

Wow.

Easily the WORST baseball related argument I have heard since Captain Obvious went AWOL.

Congratulations.

:obama:

You have difficulty reading, I know that, but try to keep the quote in context.

LOL at this.

Show me that guy.

Low totals? Jesus Christ you have no historical perspective at all.

Santo's "low"/"no" totals exceed Brooks Robinson's. When Santo retired I think he had hit the second most HR"s for a 3B ever. He was a consistant All Star, a consistant gold glover, was nearly always in the Top 10 for the NL during that time etc. LOL at "no totals". Santo's "totals" exceed a guy who was widely seen as the best 3B of his era and was a no brainer HOF'er. Him hitting poorly away from Wrigley is immaterial because he hit well at Wrigley well enough in fact to crush Brooks Robinsons career numbers in some aspects. If Santo comes up with St Louis or Boston does he hit as well because he is more used to the surroundings? Maybe. Who knows. Your argument for keeping one of the top 10 3B of all time and clearly the 2nd best 3B of his era out of the HOF based on his home/away splits is one of the worst things I've ever read.

Just a smidge better

IMO much better.

Using OPS+ alone to compare guys that played in the same era doesn't always make a bunch of sense. I used it as part of the stat line for Santo and Robinson but that's only a piece of the puzzle. OPS+ with Yaz and Santo doesn't really show the gap that well because when you start looking at black ink/gray ink of the guys in each league Yaz is up there a ton more.

Brooks Robinson Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com

He was an insane fielder according to his defensive metrics and reputation. That probably was enough to put him in the HOF. Not that he was terrible with the bat though.

Not many players make the HOF cause of glove. Santo was known for really good glove and had the hitting stats. I think its a shame he not around to be inducted. Cause we know he will now that he passed on.

He might. What if he doesn't?

It's likely that Ron Santo is voted in this time because of all the cards stacked in his favor on that committee. If he's not, he'll be one of the best, if not the best, players ever to not be inducted into the HOF.

Better than Harold Baines :D Not as good as Tim Raines though, who should also be inducted.

They did very bad things apparently :D

As long as they compiled the numbers and played the game at a high level and are recognized within the official records there is no asterisk except the one you place on them.

Jackson never shown as doing a thing wrong

Ironically the Sox learned about cheating from the 1918 Cubs
