Judicial system in this country is a joke.

A woman can press bogus sexual assault charges, and then is not even prosecuted for filing a false police report when the accused is cleared.

Should this be the case w/Kane, his only recourse is to file a civil claim for $$ damages...which would be a waste of time considering he doesn't need the cash.

Whether Kane is charged or not, I think he's looking at a suspension from the team. This has been enough bad press from the organization that I doubt they'll let him walk clean, even if the legal system does.

If he's charged but not convicted, I think you're looking at a rather substantial suspension from the team. Maybe even in the 15-20 game range. And he'll likely get be on his final strike with the team: if he does something again, he's gone.

If he is charged and convicted I think Kane will likely have played his final game with the Hawks. I don't believe you can just release somebody from an NHL contract the way you can in other sports, but I imagine the Hawks would look into grounds for terminating his contract. If they can't terminate it, then I guess the next step would be to look for a trade.

All hypothetical, of course. Due process and all that. But like I said the start, I don't see Kane being able to play a full 82 games for the Hawks this year, no matter what the outcome is.

So I guess this is the official Kane thread now. I just hope IB doesn't force Dmeltdown to lock this one like he did with the last one.

Who's going to trade us anything for Kane if he's convicted? Even the Oilers are incompetent enough to do so.

Saw this tweet in the morning, coming from a Sun-Times reporter:

Yeah, this is going to take a long, long while.

Why the **** is the other thread locked? This one is going to turn into the exact same thing, eventually.

I agree. If the mods wished to contain the situation, perma banning IB is the solution, not locking threads just because one person wants it locked.

Kane had an appearance scheduled with sick kids at a Buffalo hospital on Saturday, but that's been canceled.

Also looks like any plans for taking the Cup out around town have been canceled as well.

Go look at the last 10 pages of that thread. That's why.

Shush.

Have you watched Patrick Kane play hockey before?

Are you aware that if he is convicted of rape he will be in prison decades? Unless you're banking on him getting the "celebrity treatment" and getting a lighter sentence, which is possible.

I'm pretty confident that Kane is not going to spend any time in jail.

I am too, due to lack of solid evidence, but if he does, It could be for a long time. We wouldn't get anything for him.

He couldn't have done this before they let Saad go??

In all seriousness I hope this blows over similarly to what happened with Starlin Castro. Kane hasn't even entered his prime yet and it would really be a shame for it to end in such a serious nature if the allegations are true. Especially with the way hockey has grown in Chicago, the Hawks have garnered a lot of support from female fans. Particularly young fans in the 18-28 demographic (give or take a few years). If the allegations are true, it's no longer about hockey, it's about sending the proper message to the fans

In all honesty, if Kane is a rapist cutting him is not enough (pun intended).

Between the cab incident, Madison, and now this I'm wondering how much longer talent trumps a headache.
