I don't know what to think of this situation. The details that are beginning to emerge don't look good for Kane (the bites and scratches). On the other hand, the story about the girl going into another room and then Kane just following in there and raping her - while her friend waits patiently in another room? - doesn't sound right either.

You'd be surprised how little is needed for an arrest and (used to be) a conviction. Up until very recently, rape was the only crime that you could get a conviction on without ANY physical evidence whatsoever. That's changed quite a bit in the last decade or so, but if you've got a scratch on you and the woman you had sex with has your semen in her, that's more than enough probable cause for an arrest, in the eyes of the law.
Remember, the police and prosecutor only need probable cause to arrest you. They don't need proof beyond a reasonable doubt, although few prosecutors will seek charges on a case they don't know they can prove.

Agreed. I'd like for this whole "What did she think she was getting herself into" line of thought to go away in these instances. A woman, or man, has the right to withdraw consent any time before or during a sexual act.
