Wow... first time since 1986 that has happened.

Congrats to him, he fucking dominated this year.

He deserved them both IMO. I didn't think he would get the MVP, but he sure as hell earned it. He had an outstanding year.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
He deserves it. Without him, Detroit doesn't win the division. Good choice.

Verlander is the first SP to win the award since 86, so Gunz is correct in that statement. Eckersley was a reliever in 92.

Eckersley probably didn't deserve his award either.

I was just going on what I saw Buster Olney put on Twitter. But now that I actually checked, we're kind of both right.

You were thinking SP, and Eckersley was a reliever.

Anyway, my opinion on this:

He deserved it. No hitter in the AL showed that he was more important than any other player on his teams. There were some good Red Sox and Yankees hitters, but weren't MOST valuable. I was surprised and pleased that the writers actually chose who won based on importance to their team. Verlander definitely deserved it.

I like Verlander but there shouldn't be pitchers winning MVP's during the season.

Cy Young award is more than enough. Jacoby Ellsbury should've won.

But Ellsbury had Gonzalez and Pedroia on his team. Therefore, not the most valuable player. Without Ellsbury the Red Sox would have close to the same record because they would still be stacked.

Without Verlander, the Tigers wouldn't have won the division.

He pitches every 5th day & gets an MVP award over Ellsbury who plays every damn game basically & just raked.

I know the BoSox didn't make the playoffs but Ellsbury did more than enough.

Horse shit decision.

He was more valuable to Detroit than Ellsbury was to Boston. Ellsbury had a great year, not taking anything away from him. Look at Boston though. They aren't short on talent, that's for sure. Without Verlander in Detroit, that team struggles mightily to make the postseason IMO. Verlander definitely earned it.

Dumb. The writers' incompetence appears yet again. No shocker here.

very well deserved...verlander completely dominated

without him..detroit does jack...and that really is the biggest thing

dont give me that horse shit he only plays every 5th or so game..due he's a pitcher...that shouldnt be a slight on him that he has to rest

verlander got the triple crown for pitchers as well, correct?

Miguel Cabrera

I dont like it. You can say 'take this guy outta their rotation and theyre done' for a lot of teams.
