What you need to do for the vet trip is muzzle him. And then when you get there, they put on another muzzle over that one. Then you and an additional person in the office hold him while the vet does his thing.

This. You also might ask your vet for a small dose tranquilizer or sedative to take the edge off. Is your dog like this all of the time, to everyone? If so, I’d see a qualified trainer ASAP.

4. Great dog for us but doesn't like going to the vet. He's 65 ,I'm 175 and it's hard to hold him when he loses his mind.

I had one like that a while ago. Fortunately, Sampson (my current dog) couldn't possibly love the vet more. He can't wait to get in there, and then get called into the office. I just say go up on the scale, and he jumps right on. They take blood, give shots, whatever, and he loves every second of it, and all the attention. The doctor said he ranks 1st of all the dogs that she has ever had in the office. But man, I know the feeling when a dog hates going to the vet. Quite a horror show.

Yeah i know . I took Theo to the vet last year for an ear infection, it took me , the vet, and a vets assistant to hold him down so the vets assistant could draw blood. I'm 6'4 240, and i keep Theo at around a thin 155 pounds, and worked up a sweat trying to hold him down, needless to say the vets assistant kept missing a good blood vessel.

If you give a damn about the dog you will train him.

Situation 1- Dog suffers an injury or illness and has to go to the vet. An already panicked animal loses its mind and cannot be treated properly.

Situation 2- You are walking with him and YOU suffer an injury or have a grabber. Lights out Rango if he tries to bite or even appears to be inclined to bite any cops or medical personnel that try to help you.

There is no excuse other than laziness on the owners part for that kind of behavior. If you care for him, train him.

I think we have figured out the problem you have raised 14 dogs....what we are saying is you need to train the dog. Every dog I have raised, I have trained them to behave around other humans.

All dogs are different
And you can't be this fucking stupid. Maybe you are.

Holy shit, that is some ground breaking analysis....All dogs are different? and all this time I thought all dogs were different sized beagles, thank you for clearing this up.

You should probably train your different dogs to not be a turd

It's important to socialize your dogs at a young age. When my dog was a pup, I took him everywhere. Doggie daycare, dog parks, Lowes, Petsmart, etc. He can still get excited and out of control at times, but is mainly well behaved.

Isn't Rango mixed? Hard to know what you're going to get temperament wise with a mixed dog.
