sucks, only thing on my radar right now is NHL 13
Wow I'm sorry Supra. The NHL series has been garbage for years now and just keeps getting worse. I haven't purchased a game since NHL 2000 when Chris Pronger was on the cover.

ETERNITY CLOCK DOWNLOADING! IT'S LIVE ON PSN!

So what do you think so far? Parts were a little glitchy, but ultimately I like the throwback to classic side-scrollers... I didn't get very far as I got frustrated with having to out race the Cybermen in the subway and was having a hard time getting River to keep up.

I like it a lot, I don't really understand the fuse game much, and had a hard time with the cybermen as well but found out that they still keep walking while you play the game so that's why it's so hard, you have to beat the game very quickly. I got screwed up shortly after that in the building with elevators, I got trapped because I must have went the wrong way and the elevators glitched out. So far I think it's great, my wife even likes it. Those are her type of games, more simple yet still fun. I wish we could play online two player. that would be nice. Some of the controls are rough but hopefully it's still a success.

Have you played with 2-player yet? I was wondering if the cybermen/subway thing would be any easier...

2-player online would be cool and I know you've always wanted to have Alex Kingston's chesticles.

Played a little Diablo 3 on my sons online account last night. Played a monk character through 2-3 checkpoints. Not a huge fan of on-line massive games to date. Don't like people jumping into my quest and killing everything before I can catch up to them. One of my sons on-line game friends thought I was him and wouldn't stop killing everything. Might have to create my own battlenet account and start a private game on my own. Intend to play around with the different classes a bit too. Diablo 2 I played a barbarian and a druid. The diablo RPG characters seem unstoppable, able to take an awful lot of damage and have virtually limitless offensive ammo IMO. I think I still prefer AD&D RPG games. Big fan of Baldur's Gate and NWN. Prefer the 1st addition AD&D rules. Haven't played AD&D online yet. Might have to try that.

Karen Gillian is easily the HOTTEST companion the Doctor has ever had.

I disagree, NHL09 was a fantastic game plagued with "cheese" goals but was the most fun. NHL10 wasn't bad. NHL11 was in fact horseshit. NHL12 has a lot of good ideas that need to be refined.

The issue I have is at this point and with the technology available they need a good 5 years dev cycle on it to really flush out the ideas they are putting into the game

Like D men being able to tie up forwards in the defensive zone is great I love it but forwards need something to be able to try and break out of it. The computer will tie me up as I'm trying to skate away and go play defense. Just little things like that. the NHL series has a very solid base but it needs a longer dev cycle to really take advantage of the features.

Another one is being pinned to the boards, I like the feature but as the guy being pinned I want a way to fight it, I want to throw a bow to the ribs or try to shrug the guy off, you get tied up along the boards and you can pass (slowly) or get it dug out from under you.

The hold for pass speed is a flawed system and really hurts split second decisions. I can't tell you how many times I've been creamed charging up a pass since i know I need to wire it or it will get picked off. (though I must admit I make some insane passes that no one else on my club will dare make). I would like a better explanation of the stats, EA does a piss poor job in that area.

It isn't perfect but the NHL series regularly picks up the sports games awards

God bless her in deed. I was in the middle of playing last night, a scene where you move the construction beam, and out of no where the screen went black and the PS3 reset... weirdest thing ever. I don't even know how to report something like that.

Yeah, I haven't played it since Tues. night, but it did feel quite a bit glitchy. Not sure how to report that either. I wonder if they rushed too quickly to get this game out?

A longer dev cycle? EA wouldnt allow that, they would ruin their ability to suck up maximum profit. I do like some of the features that they have added, but for all intents and purposes NHL 12 is the same game as NHL 09. Instead of fixing cheese goals in the next 60 dollar game they should fix them in the broken version. Thats what bugs the shit out of me with the NHL games, they don't really fix any of the issues the games have until "maybe" the next version. How many years now have the unlockables been bugged? ROFL thats one of the things they said they fixed in NHL 12 and thats a load of BS. Thats the last thing they would fix because they want people to break down and buy them when they cant unlock them.

I would not have bought NHL 12 if I didnt have a best buy gift card and nothing else I wanted to buy at the time. With the exception of the jump to the new game engine in 08 or 09, each NHL game is like buying a patch, or at best a DLC you pay full price for. EA's sports franchises are the biggest game racket there is. I'd lay down money more dev time goes into developing the UI for the game to make it "seem" like a new game, than the actual game itself.

I'm not sure, I know they had missed a couple of deadlines as it is, I think it was originally due out a couple of months ago. I know their core audience is UK which it gets released to tomorrow so maybe that will help smooth them out. I don't know if programming for EU PS3's is any different but I would doubt it. I hope for their sake they get it smoothed out some before it hits the UK because those fucks are brutal.

No way is NHL12 just like NHL09. In NHL09 it was all about speed and you could actually be significantly faster than someone, while now you are just barely faster. My average game in NHL09 was 2g3a and no I'm not joking. Now my average is .5g1.5a

yeah but it barely warrants being considered a "new game". Because they fixed a few bugs and altered the "pre existing mechanics" I call that a patch. Its not like they developed a new engine for NHL 12.

Holy crap, that's otta control...

Anyway, I decided to use my credit on pre-ordering NCAA football 13. Amazon has it onsale right now for 44.99. Which I've never seen done for a pre-order, usually they give it in the form of credits. So I jumped on it and saved 15 bucks off the pre-order price. I haven't played a college football game in forever. Madden 11 was the first football game i've played in maybe 10 years. It was fun but they are getting really complex. I'm hoping being able to go take a school and build and recruit and all that will be fun enough to keep my interest in the game, where madded they work really hard to get your real-life money for the fun stuff. I will say that madden 11 was fun with their fantasy card type stuff. where you build teams throw football card packs.

I will end up buying NHL 13 and taking my traditional vacation days off to play goalie for 16 hour shifts for a week. Addiction sucks...

The company that brought forward Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning, 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, just shuttered their doors. Guess Curt Schilling isn't so good at running a video game company.
