He learned his lesson with Campbell after he signed him or traded for him?
Wait...I can't tell if that is a joke or not. Tallon clearly didn't learn his lesson. I think Luongo could do well again in Florida and Tallon could make it happen.
Again the Hawks ought to be able to make this a wash as far as cap hit goes pretty painlessly. Depending on what the Canucks want for Lu this could be a great move for the Hawks.
If Hjalmarsson and/or Frolik are part of the trade, money isn't an issue.
I was arguing Crow and Frolik earlier. I think Hammer is worth more than Luongo, but I could be wrong.
I will be nice since you arent a die hard nut hawks fan.
no, hammer is not worth more than luongo
Really, even given the cap hit and baggage of Luongo? Seems like very few teams want anything to do with Luongo.
the baggage is much overrstated mainly by hawks fans due to the fact that we "got in his head" in the playoffs.
The cap hit wouldnt be as bad if we can move bolland, move frolik (who is replaceable), and hammer (who is also replaceable). The bolland part is the hardest because of what he brings as far as value on a 3rd line, we may have to take a step backwards on that line to make all of this work. it would be tricky to try to get a solid dman, 2nd line center, and luongo.
If we go the non-luongo route we really need to shore up our D. The goalie tandem is weak. We also need to improve the top 6. There is a lot of ifs in the top 6 right now and we have to really focus on that.
I am not talking about making this work for the Blackhawks. I am talking about what Luongo's value is right now. He needs/wants out of Vancouver and every team knows that. His cap hit is pretty high and there is some baggage about his postseason performance in non-Blackhawks series as well. I guess I just don't see many teams rumored to be in the Luongo sweepstakes. Low demand=low value in most situations. That was my thinking anyway. Where am I wrong?
I agree with most of your assessments about the Hawks getting Luongo and making it work.
I guess I can understand that. I guess I just see the Canucks in a situation where they are a bit over the barrel like the Hawks were following the Cup. I don't think Hammer is worth a ton, but I think there is a much larger market for Hammer.I get it about how VAN needs to move him and that they are in a bad position since its well known that he wants out and that they need to move him, so I get that when it comes to his specific value, but it isnt like baseball where money can be moved around. Hammers salary would need to go, and imo he isnt really all that special to begin with. so to get a premier goalie for a guy like hammer is a win for the hawks. even if we had suter, i still dont think the goalie tandem now can withstand a stanley cup run. but than again there are career years and things that are out of the norm. so who knows?

The length of the cap hit is more to the point than the actual money for a few seasons... the question for the gm then becomes, can they do better with that same money -when it comes to the team?
Dews,
The Hawks were just the beginning for Luongo's playoff woes. In the regular season, the Canucks have been as good as anyone in the league the last three years...Im not positive but I'd venture a guess they had the most total points the last 3 years combined. What has it gotten them but a ton of heartache and disappointment. I think that Boston finally pushed him to the edge two years ago and LA finished him this year. You just cant be constantly pulled in playoff games and not have that effect you. Luongo is an overpaid headcase who is now yesterday's news.
Luongo cried on television.
The end.
