Tard and u keep saying this and it's making me feel small. Thoughts on Battlestar Galactica?

Without taking anything away from the wire, sopranos is better overall but the two shows are good at different things.

Battlestar galactica? That show was ok depending on how starved you are for sci fi, but cmon. Acting and dialog is b quality at best. That pilot chick was fucking awful.

Thoughts on Battlestar Galactica?

I was a little disappointed when the reboot turned out to be a shot for shot remake of the original.

The only episode I ever watched was the last one. loved how they told you what happened with the crafty editing.

So- as someone who never got in to mafia movies, is it still going to be a good watch?

I hate drug dealer movies for the most part, but loved Breaking bad because the story moved well and the characters were three dimensional. Would sopranos go the same way?

Aside from Goodfellas, I was never a big mafia movie fan. I also lived in NYC when Sopranos came out and refused to watch it because I didn't want to watch a show about Jersey goombahs. I didn't end up watching it until 2005 or so, and became obsessed. The mafia part is just one part of so many things going on in the show, a point of departure. It's also one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

If that is the case I am going to give it a try, thank you.

The episode "Pine Barrens" is funny as hell.

My favorite episode is The Test Dream. It always feels fresh every viewing - so much to unpack.

The episode after is Long Term Parking. IMO that is the finest 2 hours of television ever.

I think I've watch it four times through. Love Sopranos, I think The Wire is better but it's close (I think The Wire is a study of society's issues, where the Sopranos is more about individual issues). Sopranos set the standard for modern TV and is the most important TV show of all time without question.

Not a huge fan of Pine Barrens either, but the overall show is so funny, so dark, so well acted.

I think Deadwood would have been considered close to that level if Milch had gotten his last two seasons to complete the story. Very underrated show that was actually much more positive in its take on human nature/society than Sopranos or Wire.

Stringer Bell

Remember when Stringer wanted to use Robert's Rules of Order for his meetings, and then got all pissed off when they worked against him?

That was awesome.

Liking the show quite a bit so far... but last night I reached the episode where Tony's mother died.

What kind of fucked up abortion of grade school special effects was that?!?!?
I could let it slide if the exchange between Tony and the spliced together monstrosity in the chair advanced the story.. but it had nothing to do with anything.

Whoever made the decision to put that chair scene in the show should be beaten and thrown off a cliff.

They could have done the conversation over the phone if it was necessary to the plot (which it wasnt).

Had to give the show a break after that debacle. I will come back to it after I can clear the memory of that monstrosity from my head.

Stringer was obviously a major role, but not that interesting.

I do remember that being talked about back in the day by some fans I knew.
I was watching it and laughing... thinking "for fucks sake tony... there is obviously something horribly wrong with that woman...get her help or put her out of her misery!!!!"

I have always thought shows should just deal with deaths of the vast like real life...it isnt tidy, there will be loose ends that will never be tied, but real life is sloppy like that.
