Stalberg might be a healthy scatch in game 1. I wonder if he's in Q's shit house for something?

Ben Smith is taking his place in practice on the 3rd line.

Yeah what's up with that? Break that line up now? Ben Smith out of left field?

wooooaaaa what? Stalberg being benched? That would just be fucking stupid to give up speed against the Wangs? What the **** did stalberg do wrong last series besides help the 3rd line and Bickell? Can't be a healthy scratch that would make zero sense.

think it would be a huge mistake myself. Can't go screwing with a guys confidence after one series you just won 4-1. Let him play the first game against the Wings then make a decision.

I don't remember anything so egregious about his play. He's not racking up points, sure, but why do this now? That's if he's going to do it. Why show less confidence in Saad now after sticking with him all season on the first line? This is a series in which their qualities, especially Stalberg's, will come into play much more. This is a match up where you want speed and skill.

Stalberg was average last series. There were lapses in his game defensively. He was invisible at times as well. When teams will key their top Dmen vs Toews...and roll coverage to Kane on the second line...the 3rd line will be the X factor in the playoffs for the Hawks.

He needs to bring it every shift.

He had 1 assist in the series - in game 1...and only 6 hits

Meanwhile...his linemates Bickell had 3g/1a and 13hits...Shaw had 1g/3a and 14 hits.

As a coach, message is - elevate your game or next one up will. There's another level

Going back to the regular season, he has 1 assist in his last 9gms and 3g in his last 31gms. The coach needs more production and desperation out of him

I still think he opened ice up with his speed and possession game for guys like Bickell who did help depth scoring. I just don't get the timing of the move if he does get benched. I really don't think he will be anyways.

does he need to play better? yes. Will he? Can't see why not when the games going to be more open against the Wings.

I really think he was average at best. I think the message is....this isn't the regular season anymore. Regular season play won't cut it.

Well unless Ben Smith has speed like Stalberg, I can't wait to see their entries into the zone. I'm willing to bet Stalberg put up pretty decent production against the Red Wings this year, because the style they play fits the style he plays and the Hawks in general play. This is why lots of people wanted the Red Wings in the playoffs. This is where guys like Stalberg can really shine. But....yeah let's change that. I'm sure the Red Wings would be thrilled if Stalberg and/or Saad were scratched.

lol to be honest he was below average. but its reset time. Wild made a few guys look like junk while making others look like mvps

just dont need to change anything in my opinion. 1 loss in the playoffs.

Saad was wearing a white jersey in Saturdays practice.

Does this mean one of those two (Saad,Stalberg) will be out if Bolland dresses.
