Yeah...lets have Barney the Purple Dinosaur happy hour where we all hold hands and sing songs.  No one "deserves" ice time.  This isn't house league hockey where everyone plays</p>

This is the NHL.  A game played for men, by men.  No one gives a shit about the regular season.  Q mention several times - as did several leaders on the team - that the Hawks need to hit another level.  He was one player that didn't</p>

Ben Smith has NHL playoff experience.  He'll play similar to Shaw. He'll compete for the puck.  Doesn't have Stalberg's skill or speed - but that's not what Q is wanting.  He wants someone to compete for the puck every shift</p>

If Q thinks he needs this to light a fire under his ass....then good.  We'll see if he answers the bell or pisses and moans.</p>

If Staalberg is going to scratched, it takes away a lot of team speed. Who else but Stalberg could've gotten to Oduya's hail mary pass in game 1? (and that was also a pretty saucer pass to Bickell for the OT winner.) If we'd lost game 1 in OT, instead of winning it, the series could've had a whole different tenor, and lasted 6 or 7 games.


If a message has to be sent, better to demote Stalberg to the 4th line and sit Bollig or Carcillo, either of who we don't need against Detroit anyway, That way Q has him available, especially late in the 3rd or OT, when some of the older Wangs may begin to tire and his speed can be used to open up ice for other players, avoid icings, or get to pucks, like the Oduya OT pass, that no else on the team would be able to get to.

errrr heres what i dont agree with you on PMX if we are talking about Stalberg not taking things to the next level.</p>

10th in hits on the team - may sound bad but hes ahead of guys like hammer, toews, kruger, oduya, hossa. Shaw leads the team with 11 hits so I wouldn't say Shaws not putting the effort in either.</p>

8th in blocked shots (again doesn't sound great but once again ahead of guys like Leddy, Saad, Sharp, Bickell, Shaw, Hossa, Handzus</p>

Pretty much low giveaways with only 2...thing is no one on the team really gave the puck up much in the first round (dunc leads the team with 5...not a shocker as a guy built for transition is going to have higher giveaway stats)</p>

They are average stats but once you look at some of the guys he is ahead of in these departments it just doesn't make sense to sit him. Hell sit Saad if Stalberg needs to up his game and help out more. Saads was worse than Stalberg in the first round and didn't look like someone who could raise his game to the next level..BUT he gets the rookie excuse I am sure. Im just not buying into the idea that Stalberg hasn't been putting a higher effort in. He needs to fucking score goals though that's for sure but i think he has created ice for his linemates and will be instrumental in doing so against the Wangs. I will be surprised to see Stalberg scratched anyways. I don't think Q is that dumb to give up speed..or maybe he is. I didn't see the issue with the 3rd line in round one..in fact it can be argued that it won us the series in 5 games.</p>

I honestly do want Bolland back also but I want Dave Bolland not the half ass version of him and his bad back. Handzus can go to the 4th line its not as if he was a world beater in round one.</p>

TCD, I don't think Stalberg should be benched or demoted to the 4th line, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd rather have him on the 4th line and available for late in the game or OT, with fresh legs, then benched and unavailable.

Why not just put Bolland, coming back from injury and if  Q really wants him back for Game 1, on the 4th line with Frolik and Kruger? For now anyway? It's pretty much a given that Handzus is the 2nd line center to start,at least from what it sounds like.  I don't see how taking away a player like that would be beneficial in this series. This was the whole point about wanting to face Detroit.  They aren't built around hitting, neither team is. I don't care how many hits Stalberg had. His speed is the x factor on that line. That kind of speed against that Detroit D-core? I'll take that everyday.</p>
