Well lets see, they just traveled back and forth for 7 games to Cali, let alone being late games, They are old, they are hurting from the Physical play of the Ducks.

Hawks have been resting for a little over a week. Hmmmmm.

You know this is the youngest Wings team to hit the ice since the mid-90s, right? I'm not saying that's necessarily a good thing, because rookies tend to make typical rookie mistakes, but at least get your stereotypes right. Wings aren't old; losing Lidstrom, Stuart, Rafalski and Holmstrom in a span of two years changed that.

I'm a little surprised at how many of you guys are writing the Wings off, or attributing their series win to the Ducks being bad. I think this will be a very tight series. The Wings are a different team than the one that got swept by the 'Hawks in the season series.

Regardless of the outcome, this Wings fan is seriously bummed about losing this rivalry next season. Good luck to you guys in the future; hopefully we'll see each other in the Finals soon.

Sorry But Ben Smith in the second line makes no sense unless Im missing something...Stalberg as inconsistent as he is been, still has speed that could burn the AARP WINGS...What the **** is going on?

No worries...Q confirmed that Handzus will indeed play tomorrow. I assume 'Zus will resume play in the second line...but it's still up in the air about Stalberg and Smith, as well as what line Bolland will play in.

True, but this is also the worst Wings team to hit the ice since the mid-90s..conicidence???

I, for one, am very worried about this series. As you can read above in this thread...I'm not the only one. I kind of wanted to face the Sharks instead.

But we'll see.

Welcome to the boards!

This is a Wings team that basically needed to win their last 4 games just to squeak into 7th.

They had a tremendous last week from Howard, who recorded at least 1 SO and had a GAA of under 1.

They also took the Hawks into OT 3 out of the 4 games with the fourth game being a laugher at the Joe. You may be correct. A couple games could be close, but after Kronwall's first D-pairing the Wings blue line is very thin.

Detroit has had good results from Brunner, and he could very well be a dark horse, but I don't expect Toews/Hossa/Saad to be as ineffective as they were in round 1.

Splitting Dats and Zetterberg may have helped, but I'm not sure if they can match up with the Hawks.

I still think it will be a short series. A couple of close games, a couple of groaners. Kind of like the Minny series.

I agree with that Paul. Plus the wings had good net presence in the Duck series. If they can find that against us its one thing that could cause Craw some problems. Speaking of Craw...1st 2nd round. I have faith in Craw but it could be an x factor. But then again if the Hawks blueline depth and team defence plays the way they have all season there is no reason for any concern.

Hawks are also well rested. Sometimes that's a negative in the playoffs as you want to keep the momentum going but it's also a pretty nice thing not having to jump right back into a new series after a long 7 game series. We will see in game one if the long rest was good or a bad thing.

Im really not concerned about the Wings personally. Not because the Wings are a "bad team" but because I believe the Hawks are just that much better. I think we have seen the best from the Wings and have yet to see the best from the Hawks (although game 5 was pretty damn nice). Im just excited for a series which will involve a more open game. And after playing a trap team it's just what the Hawks need. Hawks top line will be a dominating line this series and the Wings like the Wild will have trouble with the depth..even if Q decides to go all postal on it early. For me it's all about depth and I simply don't think the Wings have it..nor did the Ducks..nor did the Wild. Datysuk is always scary..that's another plus for the Wings but I think we have guys who can control him a bit better than what the Ducks did..Craw just better be alert because he can score from anywhere as he has shown.

Obvioulsy this Kronwall Wings fan is going to toot the horn of his team. Im glad he didnt come a long trolling. Would be nice for a Wings fan to be around these boards for this series. Get tired of talking to dirtbag Hawk fans myself esp PMX.

How are they a different team, they called up a few rookies? No one is riding them off, I said Hawks in 6...I gave the WIngs two games....they should be great full. and Half of the team is still old.

Yeah gotta say the hawks just take this series. By no means is it a given hawks gotta play their best, but thats the thing, the hawks do everything detroit does....just better.

I just don't see detroit winning this series without them playing as perfect as possible, and the hawks making major mistakes and playing un-disciplined and ending up on the wrong side of too many power plays. Because that is the one area the hawks just suck at is the friggin power play, That is where detroit can potentially make up for whatever mismatch in skill 5 on 5. I just lack understanding on how a team can score so much 5 on 5 and be so inept on the power play. At least out PK is 100% so far, lol.

No, not because they called up a few rookies. They're just playing better than they did in the regular season. Not sure what to attribute the change in their game to, all I know is they're being stronger on the puck, more aggressive, more assertive, etc.

yah good point about the Hawks piece of shit PP. Detroits not a team I want the Hawks PP being a crab bag against. But hey if the Hawks can continue a 100% PK i'll take the trade off. Don't think it's going to be at a 100% this series though the way the Wings drive the net and sit there. Im sticking with my theory that the Hawks play better off the fly than in set play situations like the PP. Other than that I have no idea why it sucks so bad also. Guess part of it is its in their head and no one on the point can control it? 4 left handed shots never help either in my opinion. Pretty damn predictable PP most of the time. Not difficult to block shots against and for the goalie to set up against. Part coaching fault also I suppose but at the same time the guys on the PP need to take the bulk of the blame..they are the ones not producing.

Their big guns are all older, I believe, is the point here ;)

Personally, I'm worried about how badly Babcock will outcoach Q, and how badly the Hawks' PP will perform... If the Hawks figure out their PP problems, and Q doesn't turn on the random line generator, the Hawks should win this series, but they won't be blowing the Wings out of the water.. I'm saying six games.

I'm really looking forward to this series. Our goal tending and PK is tops in the league. Roll the best D-pairings in the league. Roll 4 forward lines that can score and are tough to play against. (Just overlook the mediocre PP). Hawks in 5.

Will be nice to see the Wangs off with a swift kick and a don't let the western conference door hit you in the ass.

And welcome Kronwalled.
