Excellent point...

In my mind, when evaluating the 31 other probable day-1 starters in the NFL, and objectively comparing them to Cutler on stats, eye test, upside potential, leadership, physical talent, and drive to win, I got 23 QB's in the NFL that rank above Cutler, IMO.

Cards - Carson Palmer Or Jay Cutler: Palmer

Falcons - Matt Ryan Or Jay Cutler: Ryan

Ravens - Joe Flacco Or Jay Cutler: Flacco

Bills - Matt Cassel Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

Panthers - Cam Newton Or Jay Cutler: Newton

Bengals - Andy Dalton Or Jay Cutler: Dalton

Browns - Josh McCown Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

Cowboys - Tony Romo Or Jay Cutler: Romo

Broncos - Peyton Manning Or Jay Cutler: Manning

Lions - Matthew Stafford Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

Packers - Aaron Rodgers Or Jay Cutler: Rodgers

Texans - Ryan Mallet Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

Colts - Andrew Luck Or Jay Cutler: Luck

Jags - Blake Bortles Or Jay Cutler: Bortles

Chiefs - Alex Smith Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

Dolphins - Ryan Tannehill Or Jay Cutler: Tannehill

Vikes - Teddy Bridgewater Or Jay Cutler: Bridgewater

Patriots - Tom Brady Or Jay Cutler: Brady

Saints - Drew Brees Or Jay Cutler: Brees

Giants - Eli Manning Or Jay Cutler: Manning

Jets - Ryan Fitzpatrick Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

Raiders - Derek Carr Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

Eagles - Sam Bradford Or Jay Cutler: Bradford

Steelers - Ben Roethlisberger Or Jay Cutler: Roethlisberger

Chargers - Philip Rivers Or Jay Cutler: Rivers

49ers - Colin Kaepernick Or Jay Cutler: Kaepernick

Seahawks - Russell Wilson Or Jay Cutler: Wilson

Rams - Nick Foles Or Jay Cutler: Foles

Bucs - Jamies Winston Or Jay Cutler: Winston

Titans - Marcus Mariotta Or Jay Cutler: Mariotta

Redskins - Robert Griffin III Or Jay Cutler: Cutler

I like this list. When adjusted for a few realities, this proves my point that Jay may not start for any NFL team if he were released tomorrow.

Scratch all the teams off the list that you put someone other than "Cutler" next to. Now scratch off the Chiefs (I live in KC; they're convinced here that they've found the right combo and the right QB not to screw it up). Scratch off the Skins because RG3 will still be the starter. Scratch off the Raiders because no matter what, Carr's starting Day 1 and will get at least another year or two before they give up. Scratch off the Lions---Stafford's the starter. Scratch off the Texans---They're at least going to give Mallett a shot to be the man.

You're only left with the Jets, Bills and Browns. Any one of them could very well pick up Cutler to start, as he might be their best QB. But statistically speaking, a team is less likely than so to pick up a player just because he's a free agent and is good, relatively speaking. There's team politics and cap considerations and long-term effects to consider.

Thus, I think this shows the answer to the question, "If Cutler is released tomorrow, does ANY NFL TEAM sign him to start?" cannot be "easily".

did he have 1 single comeback win in 2014?

The SF game, the 2 Fuller int's putting the Bears in SF territory in the 4th helped Cutler out a lot...but they don't call him captain comeback for nothing

This guy. Cutler can't receive any credit, he can only receive the blame. A Bears win is a team win but a Bears loss is a Cutler loss.

1. You can win WITH Cutler. You just won't win BECAUSE of Cutler. See 2010.

2. Just because a player has a bad year, it doesn't mean that every year from here on out will be the same or worse.

3. The NFL is very unpredictable. A team has gone worst to first every year for several consecutive seasons. A team has gone first to worst almost every year.

4. Coaching is almost as important as actual talent. No, coaching BRINGS OUT talent. This is especially true with younger players.

5. Just because you sign or draft an offensive player, it doesn't mean that the player is there to only help the QB.

6. Just because a coach has never won the superbowl, it doesn't mean he can't. Every coach that ever coached at 0 superbowls before he won his first one.

7. The QB is the most important position on the field. It still is not a reason to reach for one in the draft when other better players are there.
I had to wait a day to comment so these could cool off, because the takes were just too hot yesterday.

The mantra of all Bears fans for the past 6 years. You boiled it down to one sentence perfectly.

So you don't want to give Fuller credit for interceptions in in consecutive series to put the Bears in SF territory to help them get the win? Wouldn't you say that had a lot to do with the bears overcoming a 20-14 deficit at the time the first int happened?

Glad to know back to back interceptions had nothing to do with Cutler's one and only "comeback" last year...just like you and other like to say a bunch of us only credit Cutler for losses and credit teams for wins. The rest of you seem to only want to credit Cutler for the wins and overlook the losses

again, nope. No one has ever stated that. Only you.

The team lost as a team and the team won as a team. individuals made plays to contribute to the wins and individuals sucked to contribute to the losses.

Do you know that Cutler had better stats last year than he did in 2008? Yet we traded for him.

2008: 62.3% 25 TD, 18 INT, 11 sacks (good O-Line) 86.0 Rating
2014: 66.0% 28 TD, 18 INT, 38 sacks (bad O-Line) 88.8 Rating

don't muddy their hate train up with facts they will just shit all over them

I doubt they've have gotten past Seattle with Cutler that year. he'd probably have thrown a pick on the game winning drive instead of Sexy's TD.

Ha it was a Robbie Gould game winning field goal set up by a Rashied Davis seam route that Rexy put on the money. I have been to the last 4 Bears playoff games holla.
