I think we play 4 teams outside #8 , Preds, Yotes, Flames, Oil as well as a games against the CaFucks and Blows.

So do they rest players since #1 seed is wrapped up?

I've always been on the fence about that. I think if its me, unless their is a particular player that could actually use the rest, I play everyone as normal and use the games as tune up for what we are going to see in the playoffs. I feel like when teams rest guys it gives them time to overthink and then they aren't as sharp when they get back on the ice.

Sorry about the late post. Bottled our wine last night and yada, yada, yada.... wasn't feeling well this morning.

Vancouver and LA Kings clinched last night. Although Kings don't have 7 "***"'s here's why. CBJ can only tie them in pts, but LA will have better ROW. DAL and DET play again and one of them will drop points. Even if DET loses only a point, and will only be able to tie LA, LA will have better ROW.

Am I really the only one who wants nothing to do with that cursed Canuck award? And we're playing at Vancouver tonight... joy....

Pitt has Ottawa tonight, the first time Cooke has gone to Ottawa since the Karlsson incident... I know the Sens faithful are going to plan something for him, from what I'm hearing.

It's only cursed if you think it is, and I personally have no feelings toward it one way or another. We will win the cup with or without it. Honestly, if we don't win it now that means we've lost a few games down the stretch, and that would worry me more than winning the PC.

As it does me, but the last time a PC Winner has won it all was in 08' by Detroit.

Guess I'm superstitious this time of year, lol

True. However looking at the percentages. I think something like 20% of all Cup champions were the overall No. 1 seeds (PT winners). That's a higher percentage then any other Cup-winning seed in the Cup's history.

The biggest thing was that the Hawks won the West. I'm not too worried what Pitt (or any other team) is doing in the East. I'll worry about the East when the time comes. In fact, I'm willing to bet my first born child that the Hawks and Pens won't meet for the Cup.

That's a thinking man's narrative why the #1 seed is good.

Believing in the curse is a lazy man's narrative and the lazy man tends to go with the flow and believes in the false premise.

With Calgary on the horizon, Hawks should have this just about locked up.

I want nothing to do with St. Louis on Saturday. Hopefully with the PT in hand, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, Keith and Kane won't be playingy heavy minutes. Maybe even sit Toews, Hossa and Sharp.

Dont let your wife see this post...haha. But I disagree with the Pens vs Hawks, I think they will meet. making next years show down Soldier Field much more intising. At least thats what the NHL gods want to see.

I think they will meet too, but when is the last time both #1's had made it to the finals? I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just don't remember teams seeds very far back. I imagine that since someone said the last PT winner to win the Cup was like 08, it had to be at least back that far but probably even further than that.

I would like to see it happen, but the two #1s meeting for the SC....it doesn't happen too often.

I'm just hoping the Hawks get out of Round 1...then I'll go from there.

Last time it happened was 2001..Colorado over NJ (4-3)

Edit: Actually that was the only time it happened after the league split into 6 divisions in 1998. Before that, you'll have to look back to the late 80s before the top two seeds met in the finals.

Got it, thanks. It's not to say that it can't and won't happen, and I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I don't think it will and history shows it probably won't. That being said this is a very different year because of the lockout and if it has shown anything it's that they laugh in the face of history this year. So I wouldn't be surprised.
