So I completely changed the format which really should be more interesting to track all teams in the conference and their magic numbers in relation to other conference teams. Based on the method and format after a website I used to follow that is no longer active. Standings/Stats are pulled daily from nhl.com. Therefore, tiebreakers will be accurate in the standings. Still a work in progress and will continue to work on potential glitches, but this should be good to go, Enjoy!

Very interesting. just so I get it right... the magic number for the Hawks is 70 (is that points?) to clinch and guarantee they beat san jose who is the next closest? But 59 points is all that is needs to make sure they beat columbus... And 64 points is needed to be dallas who is in the 8th spot right now, but that could move depending on how the teams play throughout the season what the cutoff for the playoffs is? As we get toward the end of the season the columns from right to left will start turning to 0's correct? If the hawks stay in first that is.

Assuming you mean Anaheim as the next closest? The magic number (70 with Anaheim) is the combination of Blackhawks points gained and Anaheim points lost. For example, they each other tomorrow night, so if the Blackhawks win, the magic number against Anaheim will be 66 (4 points lost - Blackhawks win (2 points taken off) + Anaheim loses (2 points). If Hawks win in an OT/SO, decreased by 3 (2 pts for Hawks win and 1 point for Anaheim loss). When the number turns to ***, it means the Hawks are guaranteed to finish above them in the standings. So, if the Hawks's row has 7 *** against 7 teams, they are guaranteed a playoff spot.

Looks like you got the gist of it. Using the Blackhawks for
