Mushrooms - won't even order an item off the menu that has mushrooms. I am afraid they won't get it all out if I tell them to. Then I have to worry about if there are still little pieces in there. Just order something else.

Olives - like mushrooms but I will order things off them menu with it and tell them to take it out.

Asparagus - willing to try at super high end steak restaurants. Other than that no.

I have to ask... is it largely the rice?

My aunt won't eat rice as she believes rice looks like maggots.

I "believe" that they are the same too, but no, I am anti soy sauce too. WHen I go to like Mongolian BBQ, I get the salad bar for the cheese cause I have the cooks make me mexican fillings for tacos

two suggestions for Asapargus. use fresh, thinner the better. Olive oil, fresh pepper, sea salt, grill or bake. If you over bake so it dries out it almost tastes like fries

I'm with brett in a way: I hate most Chinese food. There's something about most of it that bothers me greatly.

There's plenty of Asian food without any sort of rice or soy sauce component though...

Oh, and for Asian Food, I know I have issues. I am convinced it is great food, just does not fit my palate.

:cringe:

EDIT: I skimmed that video and the end product looks a lot better than the picture Crys posted. Doesn't look the most appetizing even then, but less disgusting than the first reaction.

That's probably because the guy in the video left the brain, ears, and eyes out of his recipe.

Veggies I don't eat. Egg Drop Soup. Eew!
You could get Korean BBQ and eat nothing but the meat. I am pretty sure you'd like that. You can even make tacos out of it and it wouldn't be "weird" since Korean tacos are a thing.

Soy sauce is international. Jugo(maggi) is the common European variant, used in many dishes.

Just FYI. Asian food with soy sauce is only a small bit of 'Asian' food. And the foods vary a lot from region to region. Go to parts of Japan and you wont find any soy sauce, but it might be on the side to please out of town customers. Same with a number of places.

There is just a lot wrong with that statement. I don't think anyone really knows where to begin. But hay, it's your body, you can eat and discriminate against any food you choose. It's just this stereotype that you point out, and I meet a lot of people who think the same. Only to find out how super wrong they are when they actually explore Asian cuisine deeper.

That is probably because 99.9% of the "Chinese" food you get in the states is garbage Americanized over processed crap. Actual Chinese food is rather amazing not to mention much healthier than your local Panda Express.

I will admit, I am willing to try, but so far I am 0 for whatever on Asian food I like.
