Listen up everyone. Chili and cinnamon rolls are a literal thing and it is the bomb.com
I may have to try green chile cinnabon some day just to see if it's actually a thing...

Chili and Cinnamon rolls do NOT go together. Eww. I mean I would throw up if I ate that.

Might go to KFC in a few.
Let me guess, you're going to get savory chicken with sweet waffles and syrup...

HawkBear is messing with you guys, Chili and cinnamon rolls, is not now nor has it ever been a thing in Iowa or anywhere else.

It was like two years ago he was telling everyone to put spicy brown mustard on vanilla ice cream, some guys tried it and of course it sucked, so he "corrects" himself and claims he meant dijon mustard. Some chump tried it, then HawkBear sits back and laughs his ass of at you gullible fools.

Enjoy your chili and cinnamon rolls, suckers.
Ok, that's fucking hilarious.

Anyways...

Cinnamon rolls and chili I could almost see though. Savory, spicy and sweet can work together well. Cornbread works great with chili and it's fairly sweet. But cinnamon rolls seem too sweet...possibly sans any frosting would be ok. I think the trick to making it work would be keeping the cinnamon rolls not overly sweet.

I've got loads of Thanksgiving sides left, not so much on the turkey. We had 2 twelve pound birds and they got destroyed. So tonight I grabbed a ham and threw it in the oven. Shit was cheap too...around a 7lb ham for like 10 bucks.

So on deck I've got ham, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, rolls and about 4 different kinds of pies to choose from for dessert. I was going to make more of my signature green bean casserole, but feeling lazy and just trying to clear out my fridge. Pretty nice for super low effort and extremely cheap. I'll probably end up making some ham and navy bean soup with the leftover ham and bone for dinner tomorrow. Double win.

Alright, here goes my green bean casserole recipe...

Chop up a half white onion finely. Saute over medium heat until translucent in 3 tablespoons of butter. Add two tablespoons of flour and cook for several minutes until you've got a very light roux going.

Add the following to the skillet: 1 cup of sour cream, 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of sugar and 2 tsp of garlic powder. Stir frequently until well combined.

Remove from heat and transfer to a large mixing bowl. Stir in 4 cans of French cut green beans (drained), a cup of grated cheddar, and about a half a container of French fried onions crushed. Mix all of that very well and then transfer to a 13x9 casserole dish. Top it with another cup of shredded cheddar once in the casserole dish.

Finally, crush about 1/2 sleeve of Ritz crackers and remaining French fried onions in a bowl, and melt two tablespoons of butter. Add the butter to the cracker mixture and blend well. Spread this evenly on top of the casserole dish. If the mixture produces too much, don't overdo it. Should be a relatively thin layer that covers the whole dish.

Bake at 350 for about 30 mins, until the top is golden brown. Let it sit for 10 mins or so before digging in.

Thank me later.
