Valentine's Day dinner. No sitter, so we just stayed home. Probably will try and do an adult thing over the weekend.

Made a balsamic arugula salad with pine nuts, goat cheese and apple. Pan seared NY strips, basted with butter and thyme. King crab legs with lemon and drawn butter. Corn on the cob. Red potato salad with parm, garlic and dill. Double layered red velvet cake for dessert.

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Wife and I did a very similar stay at home instead of fighting the masses Valentines.

Did pan seared scallops, ribeye on the grill, whipped red potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and a mixed salad. It all came out delicious.

I learned about Scallop feet tonight. I've cooked scallops before, but didn't know that scallop feet was a thing until tonight. I ate a few of them raw and they were delicious, but apparently if you cook them they become gummy. I have no idea how I hadn't heard of that before, but I guess you learn something new everyday.

I had a frozen pizza lol. We're doing a day date thing today tho.

How's the tuna at subway?

It's not bad actually. And I don't really like anything from Subway normally.

Jewels to get a case of Squirt
Wife's veal parm leftover from last night. Money.

We normally dont gaf about valentine's, but my son's school was offering a 'party' for the kids from 6-9 for only $20, including dinner for a fundraiser. Bless those teachers who gave up their Friday night/Valentine's day to raise money for their students and do a solid for us parents. I got real lucky to move to the hood we did.

We sat up a the restaurant for 2.5 hours, like normal adults, and enjoyed some great Italian food and wine.

Funny side story, last night I forgot milk (for the whipped potatoes) so I went to the store and they had a strange special. Buy a dozen doughnuts and get a free gallon of milk, so today for breakfast it was doughnuts and coffee.

Falling in love with pan searing NY strips in the cast iron lately, so tonight, steak sammies.

Going to slice up the strips into thin slices after resting. I have some leftover arugula from the weekend, so going to add in a dash of olive oil, salt and pepper and toss. Then for the sauce a mayo blend with some sriracha and a bit of Worcestershire. I've got some thick cut crusty bread that I'm going to spread a garlic butter mixture onto (butter, fresh minced garlic, parsely) and cook in a pan on both sides. Finally a whole mess of carmelized onions in a bit of oil and seasoned with salt and pepper.

Assembly: sriracha mayo on both the top and bottom garlic bread pieces, the arugula mix on the bottom, then the steak, then the carmelized onions, top with the other piece of garlic bread.

Don't often do breakfast but when I do it is a rather late Breakfast of Champions with high fat content and likely enable me to go the rest of the day without eating anything else. Had bullet proof coffee (50 grams of fat added w/butter, MCT oil and cream), 6 fried eggs, 6 strips bacon, 1 salmon filet.

I don't eat until after 12. Right now, I've just been doing a bagel, piece of fruit, and OJ for breakfast.
