The "grinding" phase early on is not nearly so bad after the first long game you play.
Makes it easier/faster to get to a level where you can go out scavenging and start building more complex bases.
I know that first play thru is painful when you spend the first like 3 weeks struggling, but it isn't so bad once you know what skills to buy/prioritize early in the game.
i hear ye. the game is too broken for me. horde night became a let down after i figured out the offset beam exploit and just out running the horde with a bike all night.
i did like the creative aspect and designing structures to combat horde night, i just wish that mechanic wasn't flawed.
the last thing i built was like a lil reinforced glass base between two mountain tops with a lake view.. i took the game physics to the edge to where i didnt need anything underneath for support. i had offset beams on both sides connecting to the base in the middle supporting it and used it as a path to walk to it.. the zombies couldnt get at me at all.
i had terrained the area making single wide trails with offset beam bridges just to get to the beams supporting my glass house. the zombies who could traverse the path couldnt even walk across the beam bridges to get to my beams.. theyd would just fall on wood spikes over and over and over..
my base was high enough where those acid spitting fucks barely reached from the ground below.. i could have dug the ground below deeper to avoid any chance of a hit but there really wasnt a point. once the sun came up i was done.. havent played it since.
