Salad with Frsh garden Green Beans, two navel oranges, and three grilled BBQ chicken legs basted in KC Masterpiece Hickory sauce.

FTR, KC Masterpiece Hickory makes chicken taste like a juicy steak. :)

Had a leftover from the Sunday night dinner: chicken tikka masala. I substituted NF Greek Yogurt for the cream, worked fine. Overall though, it was only "ok", think I went a tad heavy-handed with the garam masala and also the cilantro.

Great week for Asian lunch takeout:

Tuesd: Yank Sing dim sum, mostly steamed shrimp and chicken dumplings, little bit of pressed duck and a couple bbq pork buns

Weds.: Sushiritto (rice paper burrito containing Yellowtial kampachi, cucumber, pickled red onion, sweet corn, ginger, red tobiko)

Thurs.: Onigilly (2 snow crab and 2 salmon handrolls)

Today: Indian street food, probably grabbing a chicken tikka masala w/garbanzos and onion slivers in a whole wheat tortilla

Had to run an errand at lunch, grabbed a bag beef jerky and a coke zero. Gonna have to do better than that for supper tonight.

Bout to do a creation of a quesadilla burger.

Got a jalepeno tortilla.

Get a nice medium burger. Im using ground sirloin.

Caramelized some onions and sautéed some porcini mushrooms.

Roasted a red pepper and cut into strips.

Assembly:

Butter one side of tortilla and a little garlic mayo on the other.

Lay down some nice mozzarella and gorgonzola cheese.(What I had on hand)

Spread the onions and mushrooms and roasted pepper around while cheese is melting.

Add that medium burger and fold. Put some pressure.

Dynomite!

Why butter the tortilla?

It doesn't add anything to it and may even hurt the structural integrity of the tortilla itself.

How would it hurt the structural integrity Brett? Have you never had someone butter a tortilla or wraps and then seared on a flat top. Not a new trend

Had many wraps/tacos/burritos. No one did that to the bread.

Have you ever buttered bread that was made from a toaster? Same principle

Brett, many many places place butter down. Do you think a quesadilla is much different from a grilled cheese while being grilled? I'll give you a chain that does it. Applebee's quesadilla burger is buttered. The structure is still in tact

Not a new trend at all. One of my favorite Mission-style burrito joints is named La Taqueria, and one of the prominent food magazines recently dubbed it the #1 burrito in the USA. It's really damn good, although not the very best IMO.

Anyway, the signature burrito at La Taqueria is served "dorado style" wherein they either butter or oil the burrito and then grill it to finish. Nom.

once you put butter on it it's no longer a quesadilla. It's now a quesadilla frita. DUH!

Sometimes I have a hard time slowing down with buttered toast. My wife says I make butter sandwhiches, lol.

I've had it from Applebee's. Never holds up. Now is that the butter's fault? I can't say.

All I asked was why you would do it. It's an unnecessary step as far as I can tell.

Not sure why you all keep insisting it is not a new trend. I never said it was.

No need for the oil, but to each their own.

Why do u keep insisting it's an unnecessary step? It adds flavor and changes the mouthfeel. With a dry pan, you get a dry crispy tortiila. With fat, you get more crunch and flavor because of the fat.

Perhaps your palette is more refined then mine. I get nothing from it and have no issues in avoiding the dry tortilla when I make mine or the authentic mexican places here make it for me
