I feel like it’s worth talking about since he was supposed to be our best qb prospect since Sid luck man but wanted to meowke sure
I wish him the VERY best. He gave everything he had when he was here and was in a terrible spot. While JF1 had his chances and could've solidified his hold as a franchise QB- he got caught in between things and that was out of his control.
The Bears couldn't be in a much better position in regards to young talent, roster build, cap space and draft cap as they were years ago when Poles took over. So I'm not upset at Poles and company in how they chose to build.
With that said- I'd be curious to see where Fields would be had they signed Armstead & MVS in Poles first FA period while drafting Pickens instead of Brisker in Poles' first draft. I understand Armstead's durability has been so-so at best and MVS didn't exactly knock it out of the park in KC, but Bears could've still taken Braxton in the 5th while working him in behind Armstead. Had the Bears have done just a few of these- Fields development might have been different. Now this lead to the #1 pick in '23, which in turn led the Bears to where they are now...so again- I am more than good with things.
Fields didn't have much of a chance in Chicago due to the Bears bringing back lame ducks such as Nagy & Pace...then got caught with a rebuilding franchise that gave Fields chances, but didn't buy into them as much as they could have.
I can't argue- Bears were right to move on from Fields and take Caleb- I get it...they had to. With that said- Bears as an organization blew JF1's developmental progress way more than he flopped on them. I hope he gets a chance and makes the most out of it in Pittsburgh or wherever he gets the chance to flourish in the future.
