Its time to dump salary. This team is going nowhere. Im not a "white flag" guy but this team hasnt had a heartbeat in weeks....they obviously dont care, so its time to take out the trash.

They have an extensive list of old garbage plus there are a few younger players that should go because they will never be more valuable than they are now.

Not just skaters either....trade Emery and get a couple of the kids up here to find out if
they can play or not.

Can't do that while they are still in the playoffs. No matter how bad they look.

The old garbage is all out of contract at the end of the year- they're gone.

Brunette
Morrison
Carcillo
O'donnell
Lepisto
Scott

All gone.

On top of that, they have two undesirable contracts: Montador, Frolik

There's all the failures this year.

The Hawks tried that kid angle - Shaw, Hayes, Pirri, Olsen, Morin, Smith, Saad all have had cups of tea (Leddy and Kruger has been here all season). None of them are ready--Kruger has been the best of the young gang. And you only do that if you're "white flagging" this team; that's not happening with a team still in playoff contention with a PR perception of being a "cup contender."

Kruger Hayes and Leddy can play on this team.

Kruger and Hayes in the bottom 6 and Leddy on the 3rd pairing.

Problem is that they're being counted on to play above their current ability due to the numerous misses Stan had this past off season. :nope:

I'm not sold on Hayes--want to see more "body" work from him.

As for Leddy, I'm wondering if the 3rd pairing is even right for him.

He brought the body work early on when he was first called up. Its definitely tapered off though. Seems like he's more interested in scoring now that he's gotten a taste.

And no, 3rd pairing doesn't really suit Leddy's skill set but I think he could learn the part of the game that's escaping him right now. Pair him up with a smart stay at home veteran and let him absorb that.

Stan should still be kicking himself for allowing Cheveldayoff outbidding him for Stuart's services last season. My goodness he would have been worth it.

Ahhh, but you're missing the point. Maybe a contender can use one or two these "experienced" mopes. Im not expecting a lot in return but I'd take a few low round picks. You get nothing after they walk in the off season. A little bit of something is better than a lot of nothing.

Bring up some kids and let them grow a bit....you never know what you might find.

The Hawks new ownership portrays itself as contemporary. They should be a little more proactive than reactive.

You're making it sound like a team that's sitting in the 6th seed should be selling at the deadline.

Yes, thats exactly what Im saying. They'll probably still make the playoffs but its just as probable that it wont be the 6th seed. No PP, bad PK, unstable goaltending plus now they're not even scoring very much. A 9 game losing streak...has any team with a 9 game losing streak ever won a Cup? Being out hit nearly every game and out hustled most nights.....You'd have to be blind to think this team can still contend.

Go down fighting with your future, not your past.

No no, you really can't do that.

The reaction from fans and media would be ridiculous. There's a reason why no playoff teams do that. Heck, even teams that aren't playoff teams right now aren't selling or even trading because they still have a shot.

It's a nice thought and I wouldn't be opposed to it in theory, but it can not be done.
