What does your draft board look like after FA?

They still need to continue to invest into the offensive line. Jackson has had injury issues and there is an out after this year if he doesn’t play well. Thuney is 32 so he’s realistically only a 1-2 year stopgap. There is certainly a scenario where they are having to replace both guards again next year. They need young developmental options behind them, not guys with shoulder issues like Bates
Taking guys later to develop is fine. Bill Murray played fantastic for the game he got before he got hurt. Don't ever sleep on Bill Murray.

DE seems like a no brainer. I'm eyeing Mykel Williams. Big dude, lots of potential. You need bodies there and Odeyingbo can play inside on passing downs as well. Seems like the best use of assets. In the 2nd you've got an outside shot at Hampton at RB, otherwise Kaleb Johnson will almost certainly be there at 41. Trenches make skill players look better.

Agreed, and there are actually a dozen RBs that look like world beaters. I wouldn't complain about Jeanty, well maybe a little, but if you took a poll here, there would be lots of love for many RBs, depending on what conference you watch a lot.

I think their biggest needs now are NT and RB. 10 is too high for either, IMO. Id like to see a small slide down to the mid-teens and take Kenneth Grant. That said, I would not be disappointed if they grab a guy like Shemar or Campbell if they stay put.

I know... but it's a luxury now. I want a new LT most, or an offensive weapon to replace K. Allen. Plus the safety and linebacker position are really in need of younger upgrades.
It's a terrible draft for Linebackers. Some options at S; it'll be interesting to see if they grab one earlier than thought because of Brisker's brain issues.

I like some of the LBs. I think Walker and Campbell could be stars in particular. Safety should definitely be high on the Bears board

What a shortsighted response

Not to mention DE’s rotate
All players rotate. Grabbing a DE at 10 is the equivalent or worse to grabbing a WR at 10. At least 3 WRs can play on the field together regularly.

Funny how people pick and chose when to be shortsighted themselves.

It is a premium position. It’s never short sighted to take an edge in the first round if the prospect matches the draft slot.

Come on!

I never seen Jeanty play, just now watched a highlight reel. He is lightning fast but in those highlights he has gaping wide holes to run through. The thing that strikes me is how tiny the guy is, is this what we really want or need? I need some convincing they should use the 10th pick in the draft on someone so small.
I see him as quicker than fast (sounds dumb)
He did have a lot of huge running lanes this last season but there were a shit ton of times where he would disappear into a huge pile of defenders and bust through the other side. He may not be big but he is powerful and is hard to tackle. That’s why I think he is Gibbs and Monty’s kid. He is literally a combo of the two. That said. Still wouldn’t take him at 10

Let me help you out...

2024 Bears Defensive ends played 2,351 snaps... a starter will play roughly 700 a piece...

That leaves 951 snaps to divide between the remaining DE's on the team. They will keep at minimum 4 on the roster.

Booker will be one, and he deserves at least 3-400 snaps in his second season....

You don't waste the #10 pick on a player that barely plays 1/4 of the time for the next few seasons.

I see what you are saying but imo pass rushers are immune to that rule. It’s my preference @10. Followed closely by LT

Go see how many snaps elite DE's play. #10 is a premium pick. You dont draft #10 to sit behind two highly paid starters and hope he can get 450 snaps.

A guy like Maxx Crosby regularly plays 1000 snaps on his own.

It was said by BJ himself it takes more than just the starting 5 on the oline to make his offense churn throughout an NFL season. Why not stay with the OLine at 10? Jeanty is so not worth a top 10 pick. What he did in college is far and away from what he will be able to do in the NFL.

We may only have Thuney for 1-2 years. Will we have Brax after this season? How will Kiren turn out? How about taking out an insurance policy and keep building the OLine… into a perennial strength to our team. If our starting five(‘25) is anywhere close to what it projects on paper any and I mean any RB will highlight reel behind them.

My draft board priority:
OLine
DLine
Secondary
RB
WR

I don’t need to look at snap counts to understand how important the edge position is at the NFL level. Also, I guess football players never get injured. Who knew!
