What does your draft board look like after FA?

Fair analysis imo. He will not put up his college numbers in the NFL. No chance. But that doesn’t mean he can’t be great. A lot of people think that it was all because of weak competition and that is impossible to argue. Maybe it was. Me personally I think he’s gunna be really good in the NFL. Not like Barkley or anything though and thats the requirement to go at 10.
It's hard to guage how his skillset will translate, which is why I think it is risky to take him at 10 as well. When I think of modern day successful NFL runningback I think of either physical specimens that punish defenders like Derek Henry and Josh Jacobs, or slashing dual threat backs like Alvin Kamara, Jamyr Gibbs, Christian McCaffery, or a hybrid of the two like Saquan or Bijan Robinson.

With Jeanty, he doesn't really fit that mold. He is not a slasher. He isn't a physical specimen. He is servicable as a pass catcher, but not spectacular enough to be considered a dual threat. Maybe he builds on that role more in the pros. But as of now, he is unique in his skillset. And that's why it may be difficult to pull the trigger at #10. There aren't many comparisons outside of Barry Sanders. But the upside is so great, I would be fine with taking the swing as well.

For me, I still think we need to add a premier Edge Rusher to rotate in and compete with Odeyingbo for snaps. That would be my top position need in Round 1.Though, after Abdul Carter, I'm not sure any others are must haves with the #10 pick. The only player I would consider is James Pearce Jr, but becuase of charachter concerns he may slide later in the draft. Maybe we could trade back a few spots and still draft him.

Regardless, I think there are solid options that could be available in round 2. (Landon Jackson, Prince U, Mike Green, and my favorite prospect Donovan Ezeiruaku). So if a BPA OT or intriguing prospect like Jeanty is available in round, then I would be fine waiting a round for DE. We also really need a swing tackle/versatile OL to compete for a starting role or be the 6th guy to fill in or injury, etc.

Abdul Carter
Mason Graham
Will Campbell
Ashton Jeanty

Trade Down 3-6 spots

Armand Membou
James Pearce Jr
Josh Simmons
Kelvin Banks
Walter Nolen

It was said by BJ himself it takes more than just the starting 5 on the oline to make his offense churn throughout an NFL season. Why not stay with the OLine at 10? Jeanty is so not worth a top 10 pick. What he did in college is far and away from what he will be able to do in the NFL.

We may only have Thuney for 1-2 years. Will we have Brax after this season? How will Kiren turn out? How about taking out an insurance policy and keep building the OLine… into a perennial strength to our team. If our starting five(‘25) is anywhere close to what it projects on paper any and I mean any RB will highlight reel behind them.

My draft board priority:
OLine
DLine
Secondary
RB
WR
This. I agree. OL should not be good enough with 5. There needs to depth upon depth upon depth.
Drafting a T makes for competition. Competition improves players. We need elite linemen, not adequate ones. Never stop making the OL elite. Too many other positions hinge on the success of the OL.

OT is a concern too. Braxton will be in his last year and CHI hasn’t seen super committal on him. Would be nice if a new LT takes over he has some experience and isn’t a rookie
With what Dan Moore Jr. just got paid... everyone needs to brace themselves for what Braxton will get.

Lots of good linemen will be around those 2 2nd round picks, even edge. Also, no reason to think Booker/Ahmygod can’t improve with competent coaching and a full offseason too… #10 is wide open for BPA with DE/OT/DT having higher value on the big board. I’d be a Jeantty fan if he were the pick, but probably not worth it. Plenty of backs later in the draft.

I believe the goal would be to trade down at 10 if possible, grab some ammo to move up further in the 2nd to get someone like Simmons or Nolen or Hamptonif they slip

Bears need to take the BPA at this point. All major holes are filled. We're now needing to find succession and develop the depth to take over for aging vets or guys we choose not to re-sign... also to just provide competition and drive up production (say like a top edge might be able to push Dayo to make sure he's not content). There’s also fit questions. For example, not sure if BJ would prefer Warren over Kmet? That in mind, I actually don't care a lot about who we take for once. I feel they can go a lot of directions and I'll just trust the process. I prefer we trade down at this point though to just fill in as much young talent as we can.

FA didnt change the way the bears should go in the draft at all

draft the trenches. seeing how expensive these guys are in FA should only make the bears want to draft trenches even more. and its not like the OL should just get ignored now that we added a few guys. lets draft more O linemen to learn and take over for the vets we added

lets add more pass rushers to get after the other teams QB.

find a RB in the later rounds, there will be productive guys available still at that position

Come on X man, you know you can’t have enough pass rushers. If an edge prospect lines up with their board at 10, they should draft him.
He said the same about not wanting another DT/3T because he said they would get in the way of Dexter but Grady Jarrett was a needed and great addition. DE is still a huge need and might even be #1 need on my list since we have our starters on the OL but drafting another guy OL, and one that could hopefully play LT is right there with DE.

@playthrough2001 are there any guys in the draft projected to go in round 2 or anywhere after round 1 that can play LT in the league?

1). Run to the podium if Graham falls.
2). No trade scenario going LT at 10. I wouldn’t pay Jones what he is going to get in fa next year. Legit LT are hard to come by and cost to much in the open market. No guarantee you get one in lower half of round one next year. Then Edge and RB in rd 2.
3). Trade down scenario, if one of the top LT isn’t there, I’d love Egbuka in the slot, Zabal as IOL insurance or Grant for the DL.

That could be a Howie Roseman quote and I agree with it. I still want the focus of the first 3 picks to be OL and DL. I am not enamored by either of the 2 DL signings. To me, they are overpaid depth. Thuney is a 2 year rental on the OL and who knows what Jackson will be after riding the pines last year. They need to get a LT replacement on board and a guard. Right now, there is no depth either. I am in the camp that Kiran is not going to pan out.

With the moves so far, in my opinion, take the highest rated player left on your draft board at 10.

In fairness, there was a period a 2-3 decades ago when the WAC and Mountain West played musical chairs. So unless your looking at the actual conference list it's hard to remember which BS team is in which BS conference.
