Bowers dominated for many years college. Warren is a 5th year senior who only just became relevant this year. What were his previous years in college like again…??

Bowers put up more yards as a freshman than Warren did his first 3 years.
I've never been a Penn St. fan so I can't speak for their offense over the past 4 years. His 1st year was redshirted, since then he steadily improved. Last season was record breaking and his numbers were elite.

Numbers aside, watch the players and Warren can do everything that Bowers does, he’s just bigger. He's not as quick as Bowers but both are extremely versatile and can lineup in the backfield, the slot, or out wide.

Kmet is the same size as Warren but he can not do what Warren does.

Bullshit. They definitely need an OT, but taking any DE other than Carter in this draft is a toss up.

Taking a project DE over an immediate starter that will upgrade your offense is dumb. Meatball fans need to realize they have an OFFENSIVE head coach so we aren't rebuilding the 85 Bears.

Give the damn HC weapons.

I’m hardly a meatball. I understand the game and how it works extremely well. I was on the Odunze train big time last season because I believe he’s going to be an excellent pro. I like Warren and think he’s a good football player.
He’s not Brock Bowers. I’m not sure he’s better than Loveland.

Pass rushers and offensive tackles are premium NFL positions. This team needs to keep fortifying the lines. What they did in free agency and by trading is awesome. They need to keep going. Any knowledgeable fan knows you win games up front on both sides of the ball.

If they believe he’s Bowers 2.0 or Gronk, ok he’s worth it. Warren isn’t that guy.

Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t you suggesting they take Burden a few weeks ago? Again, I like the player but this year at 10….

I don’t think so!

The OT conversation is pointless because we agree there. I am not locked into one dimensional thinking however so that means there are more than two positional options for the #10 pick.

Positional value is great but it's not more important than need. That line of thinking is why the Lions would draft WRs back to back to back. It's absolutely meatball mentality to ignore that the team has already heavily invested in the DE position just because fans think Odeyingbo isn't the answer.

It's funny you mention the Odunze train because last year I was on the Jared Verse train because he had more value to the team winning once the Bears signed Keenan Allen. So here we go again...

Value means adding players that will improve the team the most, not just autoselect based on positional value. Yes DE is technically more valuable than all positions other than QB, that doesn't mean ignore the fact it has less value to a team that has already invested in both starters and young developmental players already.

Lastly, I did indeed list Burden as a "combine crush" that COULD be an option at #10 depending on his performance. Again that means being open minded not being locked into that idea of selecting him. Since then I am much lower on even selecting him in the 1st.

The idea that only Bowers or Gronk should be selected in the top 15 again is meatball thinking. Passing on elite players when you have the opportunity to take them, just because there is positional value elsewhere is loser mentality.

If you go through my posts last off season, I was a huge Verse supporter and listed him as one of my blue chip prospects. I happened to like Odunze better. They’re both going to be great pros. Bowers was on my list too.

If you think Warren is worth a look at 10, that’s cool but I completely disagree. If the Bears pick him, I’ll be fully supportive because I’m not some douche that gets upset if they don’t pick my guy. Well at least most of the time. I flipped out when they traded back for McNown instead of drafting Culpepper and when they traded up for Mitch instead of taking Mahomes. Yes, I was on Mahomes pre-draft in 2017. That draft still blows my mind.

Respect. We have that in common about Mahomes, I also have CCS proof of being one of if not the 1st to call for drafting him on the Bears.

If the Bears decide Mykel Williams or Shemar are more valuable, I always take the wait and see approach and root for the team. I even did that with the Mitch pick because I understand completely that I could be wrong.

imo, you're one of the best posters here maybe because we usually think alike lol.
This year's 10 pick is a tossup, it's tough to know what Ben wants. (while Poles executes the transactions)
Is there a LT that can replace Jones?
Would they take a rotational DE with 40mil tied up in that position.
Is there a DT worth it?
Is Jeanty Bens next Gibbs?
Will be fun seeing how the draft falls and what they ultimately do.

This is what I would do, particularly because there is a DE there(mykel williiams) that seems to fit the dennis allen mold.

But I'm fully prepared for it to be Jeanty. I'd say im at about a 70% expectation for the pick to be jeanty this point, 20% a defensive end, and 10% a left tackle.

Im pretty confident at this point its going to be jeanty. I really do hope the raiders save the bears from doing something dumb

The pick at #10 should be a defensive end.

Ben Johnson specifically mentioned how impressed he is with cole kmet when he met him, so I heavily doubt they are drafting another TE at #10.
I think the media and fans have gotten a little too carried away with Jeanty to the Raiders... maybe if Al Davis was there, but I don't see Spytec doing it given he just had so much success with later round RBs in Tampa. If Brady has any influence at all, he might echo it as he generally didn't have those types of high end RBs in his career. Lastly, Chip Kelly has two of his RBs from OSU in this class.

Can it happen? Of course, but I feel it's just media stuff at this point. This is all to say, I don't think you'll get your wish that the Raiders knock him off. However, I do feel he'll go before the Bears pick, so no harm no foul.

If the Bears had drafted Verse last year, I doubt many would be upset.

But they would then be in desperate need of WR now.

In fairness to Warren, he was recruited as a QB and converted to TE cause of athletic ability. I think Penn State has a couple more senior TEs on the depth chart and he had to work his way up with no tape/experience to back it. That's probably a lot of why he was slow to get the opportunity.

One of the possibilities for sure or perhaps they wait until day 2 and go for JT Tuimoloau or maybe a Brady Swinson if they don't have to require 6'5 edges guys. I'm kinda in agreement, if Jeanty is there at 10 he s/b BPA and Ben would want him.

It feels like WRs are more and more obtainable unless you want the absolute best guys like Chase or whoever... I get less and less enamored by taking WRs high as the years go. Though, I guess one could say the same with edges as there are a number of names floated out there.

I wasn't as high on Verse, so it's not a moment where I'll take a victory lap, but I would prefer having Verse today and be in the market for a WR. At the time though, this upcoming draft was known to have a number of good edge prospects, and I'm sure it was a factor in the decision. The other factor was likely making sure they bolstered the offense for Caleb.

Sure.

Do you think Warren is the same level prospect as Bowers?
