Wow fantasy baseball team right there :p
This wouldn't even work in fantasy or MLB The Show. CJ Wilson will get a lot more money than that and I highly doubt that he leaves the Rangers. Reyes will get a Carl Crawford contract in FA and there's no way he signs w/ a team to play 2nd. Yadier is not leaving St. Louis, Jeff Baker and Blake DeWitt won't bring back shit in a trade, Aramis will get more than $40 million in FA, Gutierrez is an average hitter and there's no way the Cubs will trade for Span or any CF w/ Jackson likely to be in the majors sometime in 2012 and their farm system is loaded w/ CFers.

OK... I'm done

What I would do in the Offseason

Since every one wants a starter what about trading for Wandy Rodriguez. A) he's cheap. B) he's pretty good not an ace but pretty good. C) his gm is Ed wade.

Wouldn't be a terrible option.. His stats at Wrigley aren't too bad either..

Do you not think we need a starter?

He is owed 23 million the next two years, and his 13 million dollar team option becomes a player option if he is traded. He isn't a bad starter, and he is more of a middle of the rotation guy then a top of the rotation guy. I guess the argument could be made that if you could get him for 10 million the next season which takes Pena's money. And then invest the other bit into Fielder that wouldn't be bad option.

Wandy is not too cheap...that's the main reason he wasn't dealt at the deadline.

I don't think we need a frontline starter no. I personally am fine with our rotation when healthy. Health has been the issue. Its not a great rotation but it's not bad either.

The way I look at it is Wilson is probably a 4-5 win player. Fielder is probably a 6-7 win player.

Wilson essentially replaces Cashner/Wells next year. Two players who in my opinion are worth probably 2ish wins each. So basically getting Wilson only nets us 2-3 wins.

Fielder on the other hand basically replaces Bryan LaHair. Someone who is probably the epitome of a replacement player. Lets say he is worth no wins. So that means Fielder nets us 6-7 wins. Or approximately here times as many as Wilson.

That kinda how I see it. I would rather sign an inning eater to replace one of our pitchers when they get hurt. Say someone like Marquis but cheaper.

I just think given our team you get more bang for your buck with a big first baseman rather than a big starting pitcher.

You mean in terms of prospects?

No, due to his contract. If teams were willing to take most, if not all of contract, the prospects wouldn't have to be too good. No teams wanted to take on his contract.

The Cubs will be lucky to sign one of the four you mentioned waldo.

Fire Hendry and Quade. Get rid of Soriano, Ramirez and Byrd. Trade for Braun, sign David Wright and Fielder. Get a FA SP.

Win. :dealwithit:
