Okay so i am a self admitted Mozart nerd...not going to apologize for it either. I also love Requiems. Mozarts is my favorite but Requiems of Brahms, Verdis and Berlioz are also brilliant. they just can't touch Mozarts. Any other nerds here that love classical esp Requiems?

Why would you need to apologize for the music that you enjoy? I don't mind classical music, I just don't listen to it that much. Sibelius' Finlandia always gets me even if I don't see myself as especially patriotic. I do like some Philip Glass, especially the Solo Piano stuff. I guess I am more inclined to more contemporary classic music and those that fuse electronic elements to classical compositions. Max Richter's re-composition of Vivaldi's Four Seasons was a nice one that came out a few years ago.

Philip Glass - Metamorphosis Two

Jóhann Jóhannsson - Fordlandia

Max Richter - Summer 3

Shut up loser. You need to buy Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem"---specifically this recording: http://www.amazon.com/Britten-War-Requiem-Peter-Pears/dp/B0000041Q5

Also, Faure's got a sweet "Requiem"---either the recording by the awesome Monteverdi Choir or the also awesome Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields

Although they are a bit dated I have always likes the Tragically Hip. Maybe it's a Canadian thing but I know the Mule doesn't like them. I don't care I think Gordon was always a decent song writer even though he has trailed off a bit the last 8 years or so.
