I actually believe what Gar is saying in that interview. Considering Rose is out for the season & Deng was not in their future plans, it makes sense to get out of the tax for this season. He's also correct with the terminology. It's not a rebuild, it's a re-tool to replace Luol Deng & Carlos Boozer.

We're gonna have a great team at some point next season.

Idk...I don't think Indiana or Miami are batting an eyelash at us. If we had a healthy DRose and still had Deng that'd be a different story of course, but then, we probably wouldn't have this thread lol. Teams seeded between 3-8, sure we probably scare them. So, I guess, that would fall into my "teams might not want to see us in the 1st round of the playoffs. Even if the Pacer won, they'd be in a physical battle, in the 1st round.

Fair point and your point was never missed. I'm just of the opinion that Indiana isn't more afraid of losing to us than any other team in the East. It's basically them against Miami duking it out. Would we play them tough and beat them up physically a little bit? Sure, but they have all the confidence in the world that they can take out any team in the East not named Miami...and rightfully so.
