Apparently If your QB passes for 4,000 yards he is a franchise QB but if he passes for 3100 + runs for 900 he is terrible and should be replaced??

There are so many that want to move on from Fields based on stats, I'd like to know why the yards gained rushing are constantly disregarded, and how many yards passing equates to "franchise" QB?

2023 Fields was projected to pass for 3,350 yds and rush for 860 yds which is 4,210 total yards over 17 games, 26 TDs (combined) & 12 INTs.

I believe a healthy Fields can be a 5K total yard QB with added weapons and new play caller, so what's with all the bias??

Because rushing yards are hard to come by with a QB in a situation where you need to pass to win aka the end of games and when coming back

Projected isn’t the same as actually doing it.

A couple of things:

  • Fields only passed for 2562 yards and only rushed for 657 yards. So, his total yards for 2023 was 3219 yards.
    • Sorry, but that was his season. I know I hoped it would be better. I wanted him to lock down being the guy. But, it didn't happen.
  • Fields has gotten hurt and missed games every year he has played in the NFL
    • Running the ball a lot increases the number of hits and hence the chance for injury
    • Right or wrong (and it's wrong), the refs do not protect Fields like they do other QB's - I think because of his size and his running ability
  • 3 years into your NFL career, people are naturally going to want more than a projection. They want on the field production. If you are going to get into the projection game, when you have the #1 overall pick...you do a projection of what your new rookie QB can do in the NFL...

You will know we have a QB when the Packers do their “make him play QB” bullshit and our guy slices their ass up for 300 yards 3 TDs and a playoff birth.

New rookie QB can run for his life and you all better hope he is more elusive than Fields.

Also hope he is given a better line.
Also hope they don't gut the team during his rookie deal days.
Also hope he is throwing to better weapons and not just Moore and a fringe ok player in Kmet.
Also hope there isn't a coaching change
Also hope he can play in a system more than 1 season.

But yeah.... Insert that rookie QB and watch him flourish!

And save this. Would love being wrong as **** on this one.

Fridge OK player? Little disrespectful to Kmet. He’s better than that

Maybe? He isn't the target I'd like him to be. He's not bad. But he is not Kittle, or Kelce or La Porta or Hockenson or Engram or Andrews or Njoku. He is good. I like him. I like him and Bowers much better though.

I do get your point though. I'm nlt knocking Kmet. Just wish he were more clutch.

Maybe I need to be more open minded, but the only place I have ever seen passing and rushing yards combined and passing and rushing TDs combined is on this message board. Also, in my decades of watching football and seeing the big running QBs accumulate massive yards rushing early in their career, they still remain able to run later in their career, but that threat does diminish.

I do believe that prior to Field's injury and recognizing this the Bears tried to keep him in the pocket. After coming back from injury they set him loose running again to try to maximize trade value. Just my opinion.

First off, very few TE’s are like Kittle, Kelce and Andrews

Can’t really compare LaPorta to Kmet. LaPorta played in a much better offense and received 30 more targets. Kmet had 170 less yards and 4 less TDs. The difference is very slim with 30 less targets. And we don’t know how Kmet would look in a high powered offense like the Lions.

Look at the bolded above. Anyone could argue that Kmet is better than any/all of those TEs.

I wonder if that’s why he has the worst QB rating in the league when trailing?

I’m a big jf fan but how about he hasn’t played a full season. How about if we’re wrong about jf blaming oc and talent on offense we are missing a great opportunity to get potentially one of the most talented draft prospects at qb since luck. When’s the next chance the bears get to do that? I’m cool with it either way but op is very short sighted
