That’s the thing. I feel like those of us who have been critical of Fields’ play don’t usually attack him personally, but the pro-Fielders love to shit on Williams personally, which is going to be awkward when they draft him. They should be mocked early and often when that happens.

We could bring up Fields crying on the sideline in Tampa. We could bring up Fields whining after the Packers game about the media making his job harder. We could bring up Fields criticizing his coaches (which he was right to do) and then blaming the media for running his exact quotes.

You know why we don’t? Because not one of those things has anything to do with Fields’ effectiveness at quarterback. Also, Fields seems like a great guy. If only he was also a good quarterback….

It’s deeply personal for the Fields stans. Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen as a Bears fan. I wanted nothing more than the guy to succeed as a Bear.

I’ve mentioned stuff about CW numerous times. I just don’t get upset over stupid shit like painting nails.
How about blowing the media off because he lost?

The crying thing is stupid. So no surprise it upsets you.

The media thing I’ve mentioned numerous times. That won’t fly in Chicago.

“Why is a football quarterback called a quarterback? It's simple geometry. The quarterback, halfback, and fullback are positioned at the back of the offensive line. Their different names refer to their positions relative to the offensive line: A quarter of the way back, half of the way back, and all the way back.”

Whoa. Ain’t that just sumptin
They need to flip the HB and FB for modern offenses.

Really don't give a shit whether he talks to the media or not but I get it.

End of the day, the results on the field is all that matters
You all old enough to remember RB Ricky Williams doing his interviews in the locker room with his helmet on?

You don't think it's deeply personal for the anti-Fields crew? There are a LOT of people that can't go 2 fucking posts without taking jabs at Fields.

I guess it's one or the other with this fanbase. Either love or hate the QB no matter what. Because this didn't start with Fields.

The only people who get mad and upset are the losers who cant comprehend the bears keeping fields.

Dont think there is one "fields stan" who wouldnt understand if the bears move on from him on this board.

I didn't read the whole thread and presume this was already stated: Most people believe running QBs are more exposed to serious injury and tend to have shorter careers. So that bias definitely exists and probably with some justification.

Unfortunately Doc, that theory has been debunked repeatedly. Mobile QBs are no more prone to injury than immobile QBs.

Public Service Announcement: Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are both mobile QBs that run the ball a lot.

Has it? Was there a comprehensive study? Or was a it a CCS study?

I am not parroting anyone. You have your opinion, I have mine. That’s fine if an evaluation on Fields isn’t complete in your eyes. I’ve watched Fields and Lawrence play since their high school days. They were the 2 top dogs in GA. Fields is great in many areas. He is also lacking in many areas. Those weaknesses were there at UGA, OH St, and are what caused him to slide on draft night.

He has not corrected a lot of those issues in 3 NFL seasons. Improvements? Yes. But not enough in my opinion.

Have you watched film on Williams beyond a 5 minute highlight clip? I have never heard anyone say Fields was a better prospect than he is.

I feel like you are letting your emotional bias toward keeping Fields (he’s an easy guy to root for) shape your opinion on this issue.
Actually I have watched several full games of USC this season, not just highlights. He has some positives that are better than Fields and some that are worse than what Fields showed in college.

Fields slipped in the draft at the last minute based on rumors and off the field things such as epilepsy and because teams said no OSU QB was ever good, or because the teams he played with had so much talent they weren't sure he could succeed. Then their was suddenly questionable intelligence and work ethic claims.

I'm pretty positive I have followed the Bears and the draft longer and more thoroughly than some of the people working for the team so I should be on their payroll 😂

I have no "emotional" attachment to Fields beyond enjoying his highlights like most fans do. The difference is I understand that many of the perceived deficiencies people label him with are actually organizational instead.

The bias people have towards mobile QBs and trying to ignore their total yardage and total TDs needs to be addressed and eliminated.

And if fields has another meh season next year what’s your 2025 plan with the weak ass qb draft and not having the luxury of num pick?
Start the QB I draft this year to develop in case Fields fails.
