When did you become a Hawks fan?

The day we drafted Kaner. I wasn't interested in hockey until then. But it was all over TV that the Blackhawks had the 1st pick and I saw highlights. He single handedly made me into a fan of the sport.

I didn't think the 'Hawks would explode the way they have though. They are an exciting bunch of kids, that's for sure.

By the way, my favorite player is Buffy (the Luongo slayer).

late last year when i heard they were going to make the playoffs.

I stopped watching back in the early 90's while they were making a Stanley Cup push. Bill Wertz decided to pay-per-view the Playoffs with "HawkVison" then he did the same with all the home games.

I hadn't watched an NHL game till Bill Wertz kicked the bucket and Rocky had taken things over. Once they started broadcasting the home games again.....I renewed my membership. And yes, I'd still be watching them even if they weren't in the Playoffs this season!

It was my form of protesting......but I've always considered myself a fan.....I just wasn't gonna give Bill any of my money while he was holding back the needed attention the team should of had all this time.

Just think.....kids can watch it now and grow up as fans!! Rocky did the right thing!

The Avs are my favorite team. But Ive always liked the Blackhawks because because of their sweaters and now that I live here, I like to see the local teams do well.

But seriously, im not a hardcore Hawks fan. I always liked them but its hard to follow Chicago hockey in SoFlo. I'd be lucky to catch a Panther game on TV. But i think my interest in the Hawks really sparked in either 07 or 08 when StoogeTV streamed all Chicago sports games. I got to catch a lot of games for the first time and it was nice to get a better idea of what hockey was.

If I had to pick a player from the past it'd be a tie between Eric Daze, since his sweater was the first I owned, and Kyle Calder.

I remember the game around St. Patty's Day in 2003 (I think) when Steve Sullivan and Daze each netted hat tricks.

It was Green Hat Day at the UC, and they all ended up on the ice. Twice.
