A team with so called 'elite' talent shouldn't be near the bottom on the PP.

This shit doesn't get fixed, it'll be a quick exit.

Not making excuses, but not having Toews ruins whatever power play we did have, which wasn't too good anyway... but we are still near the top of the league in scoring even with a bad power play. My philosophy is that it doesn't matter when you score, only that you score more than the opponent. Detroit is the only team in our conference with more goals for. We're sixth in the whole NHL in scoring.

The goaltending is a bigger issue than the Power Play. Both are issues of course. But we are still scoring enough goals, it is keeping them out that will determine our fate.

Disagree. The Blackhawks can play enough team defense that as long as the goaltending is average, it's good enough for them to win.

Timely goals on the power play is what swings momentum in your favor in the postseason. And that's how the Hawks have handled teams like Vancouver that rack up a ton of penalties--they light 'em up on the scoreboard.

We haven't seen those two things you mentioned for awhile now.

I agree that the defense has made many goalies look better than they actually are here in Chicago. I also agree about the power plays.

I'm just wondering who's going to step up now and get the Blackhawks deep in the playoffs.

100% disagree.

The team is 26th in the league on the PK.

The team is 22nd for goals against.

The differential puts them in 10th place (only due to a lot of scoring)

It is not all the goalie, yes they arent the greatest tandem like elliot and halak, but the team defense has been brutal all year long. too many own zone turnovers, sloppy passing leading to bad entry.

The special teams has to be better than the bottom of the barrel in order for this team to win the cup. In the playoffs it comes down alot to special teams since games are much more played closer to the vest. At the end of the day "scoring more than the opponent" comes down to special teams.

without Monty, we get to enjoy possibly one of the worst third pairings in the NHL in SOD & Olsen.

Eh, 6th d man...

I'd give it to Olsen. Not like they're going to be playing any significant minutes in the playoffs anyways.

If he's healthy, I imagine they'd dress Lepisto as the 7 D. Can't have too many D.
