Anywhere in the PacNW is good for me. PDX, Seattle, Even Vancouver (both of 'em).

My wife also likes SF. I could see living there as well...as long as I could sell about 4-5 CCS members for glue to be able to afford rent there :D

I love living here but I am about done with the winters. This one isn't too bad so far but the one last year was brutal. I don't normally suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder but last year was so cloudy and so miserable that I was ready to kill something by April. I pretty much will retire in the Olympia area but plan on snowbirding to Arizona after I retire. Six more years.

Nah. A tad over 1000rwhp is gonna have to do for me as far as "muscle" goes. I'll pass on the American muscle. If I ever get anything else fast it will be Italian.

Alabama has done well by me. I live in the Huntsville area. Huntsville has the highest number of PHDs per capita in the nation. There are also a slew of engineers. Madison county (Huntsville and the surrounding area) are highly educated the rest of Alabama...ehh. Most people around here draw a distinction between Huntsville and the rest of Alabama. My title is a Software Integration Engineer although technically I'm not an engineer. Both my wife and I make over six figures. Not bragging. I'm informing you that people in Huntsville are educated and have money. Cost of living is stupid cheap as well.

Below is the house we just built. You'd be amazed what we paid for it.

I'll admit, my first though was, "Alcatraz?"

Lucky you...I got about 28 more years of this shit.

Seriously though, the rainy season is what gets most people--as well as the fact that there are only 2 seasons: Rainy and not-so-rainy. Everyone thinks: "Oh it's so nice since snow is very rare", but they forget that it's so dark, dreary, and when it does snow and ice up everything goes to hell (like last year when the snowstorm was too much for PDX's 2 snowplows to handle...yes, two.) They don't tell you that SAD is very prevalent.

For me at least, I thrive on this. :) But everyone is different. My "hell" is pretty much the midwest where the summers are hot, muggy, humid, and even the breeze doesn't cool you off.

But I definitely want to do the snowbird thing when I retire, or at least get the RV and travel.
