Can Dayan play third at all? It might open up trade possibilities for a corner OF

he can. he came up as one. Would love to see that move made. you would better yourself by putting him at 3rd keppinger at 2b and getting a corner outfielder.

That's what I'm thinking too. ST will be interesting to see how the INF shakes out. I don't know who is still on the market and I don't think Bourn fits with the Sox at all, but I do think the best option is to play Viciedo at third and getting a corner guy.

so would you deal Beckham? or use him on the bench? I feel like the latter wouldn't be feasible and you would just trade him

bench? :dunno: I mean his defense is still very good to have in that role in late innings or for depth. His value just isnt there so you would get a bag of balls for him. :(

Bourn is gonna get paid. I dont want to pay for a guy where his value is speed and defense and not 21 years old. the minute the speed goes he is worthless. Kinda would like a guy with some more pure contact or OPS instead of a slugger. A guy like victorino would have been nice to have.

I see what you're saying, I can't imagine we could get to much for him but I just can't see him in a bench role, or being happy being in a bench role considering he was supposed to be the franchise at one point in his career

really hope catcher isn't a black hole again.

Flowers/Hector Gimenez.

:puke: especially if Flowers doesn't hit.

true. I think he would excel in the NL on a weaker team.

Completely disagree. When he's batting in front of strong hitters the numbers gave been markedly better though that's not saying much

Another reader proposed a swap to Merkin that would send Chris Sale and Dayan Viciedo to the Marlins for Giancarlo Stanton. Surprisingly, Merkin feels that such a deal would be ill-advised for the White Sox as they would be exchanging two dynamic young players for one.

 is he high? :smoke:

viciedo is 23 and as goldstein has pointed out...has a huge huge ceiling.
Sale is also 23 and is locked up. and......pretty good.

pitching wins championships. does getting stanton bring you closer VIA that trade? nope.

I wouldnt make that deal. Sale is a stud Ace in the making. Pitching wins Titles. Remember '05? Damn certain wasnt the offense. Then they went to be explosive offensively and it back fired. Pitching wins. Look at Detroits vaunted offense last year and how San Fran shut it down. Im really curious to see how Viciedo will do this season along with Flowers to some extent

You still need to hit. That San Fran offense is sneaky good, Posey was the MVP, Panda can hit, Scutaro hit the Giants through tough spots, I mean offense is important. Ask the Rays from 2012.

Team did hit over 200 home runs, though.

the AL will be a dogfight this year, the only obvious whipping boys are the Twins and the Astros

Good pitching, good defense, and an offense that should be good enough. Team will compete.
Quit being so negative, its annoying.
