I'm glad someone said this besides me.

I know you and CNM have to hate on the Sox, but you don't think that if Sale continues to develop, Peavy, Danks, and Floyd stay healthy, and Quinata prove to be the real deal; that this isn't a pretty good rotation?

Calling it the best rotation was a stretch, but you cannot ignore the upside. And it could very well be a train wreck with injure risks.

Sox rotation has a lot of upside.

Obviously, it doesn't have the potential of Shields, Davis, Guthrie, Chen, and Santana, but, then again, who does honestly?

Lots of ifs everywhere, but lots of potential too. Why don't we just wait and see? :D

Obviously, and I've addressed that. But, the team isn't as bad as Sox fans, and the media are saying. Yeah, Rios will regress a bit and AJ's career 2012 helped a lot. But Flowers should match AJ's normal career line from 2005-2011 (317 OBP/414 SLG), and Flowers is better at defense.

Obviously, the Sox season hinges on health, but if every stays healthy, and if they can add pieces at the deadline, I think the Sox will be back in the hunt all year.

ok, at least you put the kool-aid down unlike Dews who placed words in dabs mouth.

And I agree, a very, very good rotation if everyone is healthy even if Qontinuom is a bust.

I think Floyd is at least a league-average guy who eats innings and can get a few strikeouts. If everything else falls into place, at least your pitching won't suck.

Floyd's FIP/xFIP/SIERA/tERA are all much better than his ERA most years.

Floyd keeps the ball in the yard, pretty impressive in a hitters park in the AL. HR/FB at 8%, IF/FB at 13%.

And averages a WAR of almost 3 the last few years.

ERA+ of 102 the last couple of years.

I mean, he isn't an ace, or a #2 or a #3, but that isn't what he's used for. I think Floyd is very underrated and for a back end of the rotation guy, he's really solid. I never under stand the hate or the he sucks!!!1".500 PITCHER!!!!1 4.50 ERA!!!!1!!1

yeah he is what he is. an avg 4th guy and a great 5th guy. I mean I would love to get a bat by moving him since pitching is a premium around the league but if we hold onto him its ok too. im not sure about quintana, kinda want to see how it plays out in ST with Santiago as the 5th guy.

I don't think Quintana sticks around. I think his poor final was due to league adjustments, and not just spike in BABIP and fatigue.

I think Santiago has a better chance to successful in the rotation, but I think they'll give the nod to Q to start 2013 because he "earned it" or whatever. Similar to Humber last year.

I like Q he uses the same style of another pitcher who recently left the South Side, breaking everyone's heart in the process </3 mark :(

FWIW I think Mark is much better than Quintana. I don't trust Quintana much, I think the true X factor in the rotation is Hector Santiago who showed flashes of brilliance as a starter.

Danks is also a big ? mark, if the top 3 pitches well enough and gives 650 IP of good, I do think they will mitigate any harm the backend can cause.

Floyd and the 5 become less important.

Find one place I said that the Cubs rotation is the best, or even better than the Sox, and you might have a point.

There is a huge gulf between being a good rotation and being the best in baseball. I strongly question a rotation with as many as ifs as the White Sox as being the best in baseball, but whatever turn it into one of the various debates you want to have.

Nationals would be the top in my estimation. Their front four is absolutely ridiculous. If we are assuming health for all staffs involved than I like the Jays a lot but health is a huge concern, and again assuming health the front 3 of the Phils is considerably better than the front 3 of the Sox. Might have an argument that the backend on the Sox is better though. Oakland outperformed the Sox as a whole last year without any names really. I am not certain I would just give it to them with the changes, but definitely a solid argument. I would put the Cardinals ahead even without Carpenter and Lohse. I think you've got an interesting argument when it comes to the Giants because if Lincecum refinds his stuff than you've got a clearly better rotation, but that is a huge if. Lists are difficult because how do handicap the obvious questions in the Sox rotation and others, but there is a huge gap between what Washington can trot out there versus the White Sox.

A. I was trolling
B. I even said "calling it the best was a stretch", and said it has a lot of "upside".

There was virtually nothing to indicate that in the original post and the reaction that I got from you and Dewz was the reason I said what I did initially.

You didn't say those things until after Brett and I responded. I wouldn't have questioned either those statements.
