Supposedly the Phils were asking for top prospects and weren't going to pay any of that ridiculous buyout or any other part of his contract. So yeah no surprise that this didn't happen. Really not surprised that a team claimed him because he still is a top of the rotation pitcher and as bad as the contract looks the price of pitching is catching up to it fast.
thats crazy of amaro to even think that top specs plus all salary. he could have easily let him go and get his payroll down and re tool.
