Currently raising a Great Dane puppy. Having a puppy again is testing my love of dogs. He's cute, but man are they a pain in the ass. Our other dog was so easy we didn't even realize it.

So, I like dogs. But sometimes I hate dogs. Especially when they pee on the carpet and chew shit up, then **** those *******. Then they're all cute and cuddly and I like them again.

He won't be cute and cuddly for long. Wait until he stands 4 feet tall and weighs a buck thirty five but still believes he fits in your lap:)

He's about 90 right now and thinks he fits fine in laps and on couches. He also doesn't realize his 2+ foot long tail doubles as a weapon.

He was bigger than Cujo and he wouldn't hurt a kid or woman... I think he was capable of killing a man he thought was a threat to his family.

Did you get him as a pup?

I had a Newfoundland dog for 13 years, Owen. Could never replace him. Spent most of his later life in tree planting camps, as the city is just a terrible place for such a large dog.

Liked to walk around with a rock in his mouth. Protector of children. Not from Nebraska.

My parents, myself, and siblings have owned at least three German Shepherds, several other breeds of dog before I came along, and at least five cats. My parents sued an abusive animal trainer and won (the lawyer's wife raised dogs so he took the case for free).

We do not view them as things. They are part of the family. My cat has gotten better healthcare in the last 4 years than my wife and I combined. Vet bills are outrages, but he's worth it.

Thread died so... did a cat age to people comparison and my cat is 81. He can still jump on the bed or in the open windows. Before it comes there are screens.

I had two Akitas. They literally destroyed about 7 vacuum cleaners. That double coat is a real nuisance when they shed.

My first Akita, Sheba was a great dog. Very protective of people but extremely dog aggressive. On cool days I would leave her in the yard on a line. Came out one day and the rope somehow got around her neck. Her eyes were literally bright red and she was flipped over on her back..she was thrashing around and clearly couldn't breathe. It was really hard to get the line off her throat..finally I got it off and as soon as she heard the clasp hit the ground (it used to make a specific sound) she bolted out of the yard and ran up the street and kicked the shit out of a German Shepard who she had been dying to get her paws on cause he messed with her when she was a puppy...really thought she would be happy just to be alive...nope as soon as she had her chance she took it...she was a great dog (for reasons other than this story..lol)

We used to have a pittbull that walked on a leash like that. She would literally pull until she started to pass out. She went from a red nose to a blue tongue pittie on the regular.

I had pits growing up, and we had a red nose that was the craziest of the bunch. The others were good dogs but he was hard headed and didnt listen much. One day, we had him tied out on a chain in the yard and the neighbor's dog (who was always kept on a chain outside) got under the fence and got wrapped up with our dog. I found them wound so tightly that they were both choking to death. I yelled for the neighbor to help and he came running out with a knife to try to cut the dogs' collars. He got his mutt off and he was fine, but my dog was dead by the time we got his collar off. Blue lips and tongue, just laying there lifeless. The neighbor stuck his hand in the dogs mouth and kind of held his throat open. After what seemed like forever, the dog took one raspy breath. Then, a few seconds later, another. After slowly picking up the breathing pace his color returned and he jumped up, started wagging his tail and seemed normal. It was fucked up and scary as shit. I was probably 11 or so.

He probably got some brain damage that contributed to his ass hole tendencies.
