I recall being around 4 in the backseat on some drive while parents were up front debating chiefs vs bears.

My dad looks in the rearview mirror and asks me “bears or chiefs” and i sided with him.

I obviously chose wrong... and here i am.

My mom is a huge cubs fan - so growing up we watched the Cubs on WGN all season long. Went to a couple games every summer and it was the closest major sports team to where I grew up.

So, when I got into the NFL, figured it might as well be the Bears. I did go through a stint of liking the Broncos during the Elway, Rod Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Terrell Davis years, but I was pretty young and moved on to the Bears when I got a little older.

Walter Payton running hills in Mississippi and one St. Michael Ditka. Oh, and Doug Buffone too, I loved that guy.

I didn't care about sports until high school.

But I played the shit out of my super bowl shuffle cassette tape.

My brother was a Bears fan and I was six and wanted to be like him. Stupid brother and he doesn't even watch nfl anymore just college. Bears fan since '86, I stuck through the 90's and figured well, to late to change now.

Growing up in Southern Il, early eighties, Walter Payton, Ditka, 4th grade Bears won Super Bowl. I was just getting into sports and the Bears were superstars. No-brainer especially when the Cardinals left Stl.

Born in Chicago, dad was a Bears fan. And I was a kid in 1985, so I got to witness that team. It was a really fun time to be a Bears fan and living in Chicago during that time. After 1985, I thought it would just be a matter of time until the Bears won another Super Bowl. And here we are almost 40 years later...

Honestly it was the vibe, rather than the excellence, of the 80s team. As a 9 year old when they won I just thought they were cool as fuck. The fridge, the shades, Jimmy Mac.
I was sitting in the den while my woke ass intellectually elite parents were making pesto for din din and my father who never played or cared about football wanted to show me football. Bonding with him at that point was listening to Jean Sibelius and NPR mystery show broadcasts. It was 1984 and he was enamored with the hype, had no allegiances while living in Minneapolis during his vicarage. We watched them and the whole superbowl shuffle hype and were hooked. He never followed football since then, I did ever since.
