Epstein for never getting a closer. Hope Bryant hits .180 next year. The Ross hire was a joke

I think never replacing Fowler was the big miss. He had 3 years to get a legit lead off hitter and for some reason never got one. In 2016 that offense was ignited by Fowler's ABs.

It would be great if you people knew the rules. First of all....it's 2020 MLB. You bring in the lefty.....he has to stay in to face Marte and Aggy. He was hoping for the DP ground out and he had the best DP pitcher he has out there. I am in no way endorsing trying to win a game 1-0 in the 7th inning.....gutless baseball. Just explaining why he did what he did.

I know the rules

If thsts what you're worried about then bring in kimbrell or have someone else also up/ready.

Hendrick was hit hard in the 7th (and prior) gave up 3 walks (8 all year) and without a clean inning should have been removed the instant someone got on.

It's not what I'm worried about, genius. I'm just a fan watching the game....not a manager. Gotta love the 20/20 hindsight. You'd be the first guy bitching if he would've brought in the year long failure named Kimbrell and he got rocked for the umpteenth time. I have no idea why he thought he could win that game with one run, but he gets paid to make those decisions....he's also got a team that's paid to hit and score a few runs. 3 hits is simply unacceptable. That's where this game was lost.....not the pitching, not the managing. It's the same story every year with this group.....a very old story that I'm tired of.

BTW, I do agree with you that he went to long with Hendricks....if I'm trying to win 1-0, he doesn't come out for the 7th. But if I need a DP grounder, he's still the guy....tired or not. Still, if they had even just 3 runs on the board, everything plays out completely different.

Teams that don't hit are nothing short of annoying to watch.

We're at the point where we just have to dump it all. I know the older fucks don't want to hear that because they feel like "time is running out" to see another champion. I don't know what to say that except what we have isn't working. We've got a couple decent pitchers, 1 or 2 decent position players. The rest of the team are cucks.

I would extend Baez, Happ, Contreras and Rizzo.

Sign Simmons to take over SS. move Baez to 3B. Resign Hamilton. Heyward they are stuck with but after this year that is not a bad thing.

So the line up would be

Hamilton CF
Simmons SS
Happ LF
Contreras C
Rizzo 1B
Baez 3B
Heyward RF
2B Hoerner

Davis should be at AA and that kid SS should be in A ball to AA. Which means Hamilton and Simmons are just D first stop gaps.

Rotation wise Yu, Hendricks and Alozay should be the turn over. They need 2 arms after that.

Trades Bryant and Schwarber and just best returns vs any specific targets. They need to reboot the system.

Two guy at the top of the lineup over 30 who can't or barely get on base .300....what could go wrong

You realize kimbrel didn't allow a run all sept and think allowed 3 hits and k like 2 guys and inning

7th inning or later needing a k; he's not a bad option right now.....would have been fine with him right there after the first hit (or second hit)

Just in case there is still anyone here who thinks this team can be pieced together.....give it up.

As with the Blackhawks.....the window is closed.

Next year will be an even bigger train wreck....and the year after that. But hey, we got a World Series out of them....and it actually happened in my lifetime. I'm grateful for that.

Normally I would agree. This case no. The Cubs have been built station to station and waiting for the HR. They need someone that pitchers have to be scared of if he gets on base.

Believe me I said D first for a reason because there really is not a better D CF in baseball. Many here cuckled Almora who can't run for crap and holds the same OBA.

Basically the same argument can be said about Baez. You really need to look at what they bring to the table vs what they don't.

Building to OBA only has failed also. Like I said they need more diversity.

I hope the Cubs get it over with and lose tomorrow. I’m tired of them getting in the way of the new and improved Danny Parkins Show with Matt Spiegel everyday. Premium content like this should not be preempted for a mediocre baseball team.

Hamilton is so good he's on his 5th team in the last 2.5 years and drew 80 walks....in about 1000 abs in those 2.5 years.

If you actually want to win; he can't be an everyday starter for your team and he definitely can't hit leadoff

Unless they can find someone who is willing to give up the bank for a bunch of .200 hitters.....they are done.

Yu will have to pitch a CG shutout tomorrow for the Cubs to make it to G3. But we all know Garbish doesn't handle pressure well so I wouldn't be surprised to see him get rocked.
The bolded is an earth shattering revelation from you JJ, are you sure?

We will agree to disagree with this one. Lead off has been a issue ever sense Fowler left. Every player except Rizzo has produced their worst in that position.

Even Happ went from mvp conciseration to a .260 hitter after taking the mantle.

I just look at it as a spot where these guys fail regularly at. So instead of losing production add a hitter that can cause some grief. Force them to draw in the D etc.

Again my argument was D first. Many here were sucking off Almora and his 50 wRC+ because he makes plays in center. It got disgusting. And Billy can disrupt a pitchers rhythm and has constantly played superior CF

Pretty no brain here.

Far better than seeing Schwarber strike out 3 times leading off then walking 1 time and the pitcher ignoring him because dude can't run.
