By this logic we should have benched CQ and Beckham a long time ago... never allowing them to break out of their slumps.

Yes Jones and Kotsay both suck. So maybe this is a "play the hot hand" situation since both players are pretty bad. But Jones has much more upside (power bat) than Kotsay. Once Kotsay regresses to himself (bad) Jones should be given a chance to go on another hot streak.

By this logic, no, what you're saying now is completely different. Jones is a 33 year old on the hard decline who has hit .195/.302/.389 since 2008 and always fades away in the 2nd half (he hit .231/.332/.538 in the 1st half last year, and then .185/.310/.333 in the 2nd half). He's finished, all he is good for is as a 4th OF'er who gives you pop and a great glove. He's terribly inconsistent.

CQ and Beckham and both young and have a looooooooot more upside than Jones supposedly has.

Since 2008, Kotsay has also hit .265/.329/.393. He's been a better hitter the last few years and he's hitting better lately right now. I don't see how Jones has a lot more upside than Kotsay.

Honestly you can flame away, I don't take 8 year olds seriously.

If KW had to DFA Kotsay or Jones. It's Kotsay no doubt.

Don't tell me you would rather have a .176/.271/.294 hitter over a .299/.372/.442 hitter too =\

I mean... Omar Infante has had a better July than Robinson Cano...

I understand that its more of a "play the hot hand" situation because Jones and Kotsay are closer in value. But over the course of 70-ish games Jones will provide more value.

Definitely not, Kotsay is that player that Ozzie has a raging boner for, he would never let KW DFA him.

LOL so you think you're posts mean anything to me? Number one grammar expert?

My posts do mean nothing to you but others they do. Jones has to be over Kotsay as Jones is a good defender. To me Kotsay and Jones are similar but the defense for Jones puts him over Kotsay.

Ugh, again, you're comparing two completely different type players. First, it's comparing Jones to two young studs in Quentin and Beckham. And now it's Infante to Cano? (no explanation needed there)

And at DH, it's a crapshoot on who would bring in more value between Kotsay and Jones tbh.

We're talking from a DH standpoint though.

il break it down for you in easy terms since you are slow.

If no trade is made-

1) Jones in RIGHT FIELD and Quentin at DH

or

2) Quentin in RIGHT FIELD and Kotsay at DH

if you pick #2 than you are Special person. and if you pick #2 because kotsay is hitting .299 in 30 games you are even more Special person.

By upside I dont mean career upside obviously. An Andruw Jones hotstreak is much more potent than a Kotsay hotstreak. Both are streaky hitters.

Ill buy the second half argument. But he hasnt been playing much so I doubt he's tired.

Yikes our DH has had a .722 OPS since '08. Jones has been crap in that time period too.

Its crap vs. crap.

Uh, you posted:

they cannot win with kotsay in the lineup everyday. id rather have viciedo or jones dh

So that's what I have been going off off. Already forget what you're posting? :turrible:

Agreed. Mostly because CQ is brutal in RF. And over the course of 70 or so games, Jones' glove in RF would help. (His UZR in RF sucks this year but its a tiny sample size, I feel that he would be a solid RF)
