Well at least we won't be able to say we never saw a World Series won at Wrigley...

You think people will end up being happy with that? Or will they view this season as a total failure if they lose? Honest question.

Well, it really feels like this series is over now.

This game sucks dicks so far.

It feels that way.... but one big inning can turn this all around. Someone needs to step up and be a hero.

A total failure? They made it to the world series for the first time in 71 years.

They will start out viewing it as a total failure and end up viewing it as an important step in the maturation of a team who's young core will one day get it done.

Like it or not..... some will view it that way. Not saying I agree. But there will be a segment that feels that way.

Lackey had better get it together. On an unrelated topic, can someone explain why Maddon hasn't used Hammel in relief at all?
It might be because Hammel isn't on the playoff roster. ;)

I don't like him..
It ok to not like a player

As far as his season went..
Yea it was good
But
Playoff.. Not so good

He gonna be 38+ next year.
Doubt he has another good year.
Rather try and move him for something

I've always felt that if we made it it's not a failure. They'll be back.
I don't think we're typical fans though. We see how the team is a blunt object set up for success getting to the playoffs for at least the next 4-5 years.

Nobody will be happy but they did progress this year so it is not a failure. Losing in the nlds or nlcs would be a failure in my mind, but not this. They are still springs chickens and it is showing up in the playoffs with this hot and cold hitting. When these kids get to their prime and stay consistent good luck to everyone else.

Mostly those that haven't put their heart into the team for years.

It's still early and we're only down 1 run. A long, long way to go. But I admit, my heart is in the early stages of starting to break.

Let's fucking go!!!!

Well, Maddon said "embrace the target" and the "target" was getting a championship. Therefore I think by his standards I'd say it's a failure. HOWEVER, for ME, I've always said I would give anything to watch the Cubs play in the World Series. I just never considered how much it would suck to watch them lose. I'm not gonna lie. I honestly shed tears when they took the pennant. It was something I had been waiting all my life for. But I'm extreeeeeemely personally competitive by nature and can not STAND losing. Ever. So as euphoric as it was for me to witness them get here I'd say it's just as enraging to watch them squander it away with such lackluster play. I don't know if I'd say it's a "total failure" of a season but it's certainly a total failure of a series. Maybe they've got some important experience but until they learn to realize how big this moment is and play with a sense of urgency I don't expect us to take home a championship. On paper we are stacked but as you can see it's rarely about who's "better" on paper.
