I don't get the chocolate/maple syrup, chili-cheese jalapeño beer fad. Is that like wine tasting for sophisticated red necks?

Original intent? The best I can come up with was, "because they can". However, there is a side-effect.

Rogue brewing did their whole Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maplebar ale. The thing as a drink was pretty horrible. For the most part people would try a sample to say they did.

But then a buddy of mine used it to make beer brats.

They were fucking amazing.

So I can't help but wonder if some of those flavored beers like Maple Bacon, Jalapeño cheddar and whatnot continue to be there for culinary, and not imbibing purposes.

That is a good point in terms of culinary usage.... but they should prolly stop being on tap then lol

True...unless someone wants to fill a growler for feeding an army. But decent point. [emoji3]

I drank a nearly warm can of Old Style at the beach when I was like 14.

That was the worst single beer I ever drank.

Keystone or Busch Light in college were pretty awful.

When I went to Spain a couple years ago, stopped at this brewery place that had like 20 beers on tap.

Last one I tried was this Chocolate Jalapeno beer.... it was interesting to taste, but drinking an entire 12 oz glass of it was rough.

We always talk about our most enjoyed beers.... what is your worst?

Tie between Heineken and Corona.

Elephant Beer.

It was a long, long time ago. Maybe my tastes have changed. But it had a heavy flavor, it was hoppy, but it tasted very strange, whatever the flavor was, didn't like it.

I don't really like Mick's widemouth beer either. Not into the super hoppy beers.

I don't love Heineken, but I will drink Corona on occasion.

These are 2 really weird beers to claim as the worst you ever drank.

Not really, those were the two that I originally mentioned because they are famously skunky when they sit around.

We used to buy Heineken at a local bar and it was great so long as we kept buying them all the time and the rotation was fresh, but walking into a random bar and buying one is a crap shoot for a good beer or something that tastes like a skunk shat it out.

Corona can be pretty safe here in the southwest because a lot of people drink it, but again, I have been badly burned by the skunked out Coronas multiple times as well. Better to avoid both in my opinion.

I remember when my dad would bring Coors light back to Illinois with us to give to a friend because they didn't distribute East of the Mississippi.

They did the same thing with Strohs West of the Mississippi, think it had to do with "grass is always greener" mentality as neither beer was particularly good.

Old Style is still that way. Can't get it west of the Mississippi

I've had old style in Arizona.

Well shit. I know you can't get it in California. I tried. Store said they weren't allowed to buy it because of distribution rules.

I had it at a Chicago restaurant/bar. They may have brought it in special, I'm not sure.

My buddies and I drank 15 cases of Old Milwaukee spring break of our senior year in high school after we took a pop up camper to the Ozarks. (We also ate a **** ton of mushrooms).

That's some bad beer but nowhere near as bad as some of the "craft" beer the 9000 brew pubs in Albuquerque are peddling, while trying to cash in on the fad. I haven't been to Chama River brewing in years but they used to peddle some shit that tasted like some newbie home Brewer made it from a kit in his garage in 1992.

It was mostly the coriander. I don't really like most untraditional flavored beers unless it's a sour. Had a Kolsch style with lemongrass that was very good the other day. I'm with you on spicy beer, I love spicy food with a cold beer to compliment it, not make the meal some sort of spicyfest

Coriander is traditionally used in wits.
