I saw Kings of Leon a few months ago...

HORRIBLE.

I mean the most generic boring show I've ever seen. No enthusiasm, no jams.. No nothing. They sound exactly as they do on the album. When I say exactly, I mean.. Like.. I couldn't tell the differnece- they sucked.

Best part was how the lead singer was saying how he was "looking forward to this show for along time.. We're gonna rock hard tonight."

Look up tour reviews after show, he's been saying that at every show so far lol

That's disappointing...older Kings of Lion is more southern rock than anything and it was great. But that's probably not their current audience.

Sounding the same as you do on an album is actually a rather impressive accomplishment. I'm not saying that's good or bad, kind of both at the same time actually. So many bands simply don't have the chops to recreate their studio work live; having virtually unlimited takes to get it right vs. being on stage are completely different (not to mention the use of studio musicians and all the processing that is involved). But, at the same time, going to a show should be a unique experience. It just seems that there are very few musicians that are capable of providing both the quality of recorded sound and the ability to adapt.

Having a great sound man really helps re-creating the studio sound

Do the haters throw Axl Rose into this criteria of a bad singer? I know the guy is a major narcissist, but that's a different topic.

Metallica, hands down.

Love their album work, but live they were off key and fucking with their own songs the whole night.

Worst I've seen in person was Queensryche. The voice was disappointing and then we got talked down to between the songs. Jeff whoever was an arrogant sack of crap.

Neil Young is fantastic.

Also, don't know why y'all hate on Lady Gaga. She's incredibly talented.

As far as a very popular performer goes that had absolutely no business singing, Paula Abdul was just horrible. Probably the worst that top 10 Billboard has ever seen.

Geddy Lee and Donald ***an always sort of brought down their groups in my mind because of their voice. By no means "the worst", but at times a shame, imo.

edit- lol, have to write Donald (Ph)agan.

Yeah, I hear you. I just have a problem with "pop stars" who consider themselves "artists". I have to admit, I don't pay her enough attention to really have a legitimate appraisal.

My brother and I were helping my mom put up a ceiling the other day and he turned the satellite radio to top 40. I was like don't ever do that again. There was this one song, completely about taking a selfie.
