Hahah what a legend.

And for WTF, I always get a kick looking at the Billboard top 100. Right now the top 5 consists of no musicians, all singer/talkers backed by machines and horrible percussion tracks.

1. California Gurls- Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dogg

2. Love the Way You Lie- Eminem feat. Rhiana

3. OMG- Usher feat will.i.am

4. Airplanes- B.o.B. feat Hayley Williams

5. Billionaire- Travie McCoy feat Bruno Mars

How our masses have grown to like that shit is beyond me, I'm just glad music means a lot more to me that having to listen to anything involving the title OMG, and featuring a guy named will.i.am. Bunch of god damn morons, and what ever happened to people doing a song on their own, every top 5 "hit" is feating someone.

Thats why people suck. And don't defend it as music.....its not.
That's really pathetic. I suppose that's why I hardly listen to any of the music these days. Well, that and I'm old and have been spoiled by groups like Santana, Zep, Stones and countless other groups that actually had musicians that, for the most part, wrote their own songs.

Sad.

My recent WTF's:

[*] Girl who like douchebags- If you wear Affliction or TappOut shirts, you are a douchebag. Why can't your hot attractive girl friend see this? Go home, talk shit to people on facebook, and then go ******* to Mike "The situation" from Jersey Shore and let your girlfriend hang out with a guy who isn't a fucktard.

[*] Whiners about work- People ***** about not having money, and the first thing they do is ask to leave work early because of some lame reason. Or the people my age who say they are working really hard while putting in 25 hours a week sitting behind a counter. Try putting in over 50, and always being on your feet. I'm trying to pay off my bills each month, that my mommy and daddy don't pay for.

We might have to ask some of the girls on the forum about the girls who like douchebags. I've never been able to figure that one out myself. I really do wonder if some of them are that hard up considering the guys they're with.

It's one extreme or the other when it comes to work. My WTF is assholes literally BEGGING like little bitches for all the overtime they can get. I swear some of those fuckwads would get cots and live on the job if they could. All fine and well I say if they're that greedy but DO NOT be volunteering everyone else's ass by saying EVERYONE wants OT.

As my dad used to say, "Don't write a check with your big mouth that my ass has to cash."

Ha, I haven't had the OT issue yet.

Another WTF that I was thinking of is girls who know and complain about cheating boyfriends but give them second chances, then third chances but yet still are upset about it. My thing is move on!!! If your boyfriend keeps cheating on you and your happy leave!!!

Also, if your going to drive in the left hand lane on the expressway, atleast be passing people, not me passing you because your talking/typing on your cell phone.

To really understand you would have needed to be a poster there long before McD showed up. Prior to that the board pretty much serviced itself and was left alone with a few moderators. McD got involved (so we have heard) and shut down NHTA and then began a dictatorship as to the posts and posters on there. Threads began disappearing and anything remotely challenging of the team or office goes away. I honestly feel that some of the most dedicated, educated and passionate Blackhawks fans are all right here and I seldom spend any time anywhere else.
To add a bit to IHF. A group of us who posted on there started to discuss with each other more and more. Some of us knew each other outside the boards, others did not. Some though believed we had a "Ruler" none other then RK. If we disagreed with a poster and agreed with each other, not on purpose but because we agreed on the logical post, we were considered doing it because we were in a "Posse".

Then NHTA was removed and then some of us split, and once the McD regime took over more followed.

The officials used to be a good place to discuss all types of stuff even outside of hockey. Now it's a fucking zoo.

You must come in contact with some of the same people I do.

In the left hand lane, it's one or the other. Some idiot is either yakking, texting or just spacing out and doing 10 mph under the limite OR some total azz clown is tailgating you so bad that you can't even see their headlights.

I know a couple ladies that have been cheated on and even worse and they stay with their fuckin losers. What do I hear? Where are they gonna go? So being cheated on and abused in some way, shape or form is better? Not to mention their kids are getting completely brain fucked by the dysfunctional shit ass relationship the parents have.

We possibly could. Usually its the douchebags that cheat on my friends that are females and then they don't know what to do. So it's a twofer.

I'm a server so I could literally fill an entire page of things that piss me off about that.

I prefer not to put down other people's music, but I'll just say that I don't like it and probably don't understand it.

I grew up in the sixties and seventies - believe me, a lot of folks didn't like my type of music either! Come to think of it, that still happens when I put The Stooges, New York Dolls or the Velvet Underground on...

Unfortunately, we sometimes think we can change that bad boy. We delude ourselves into believing there is something special about us that will make a difference and make them want to change. I am one of those stupid idiots that can never learn from anything. I am always open and forgiving. It's like I hand them the knife to stab me in the heart or the back again.

Hey if there's actual creativity in it, talent needed, maybe some decent lyrics I won't say a word. But the shit I said is unbearable. To me the shit that is "popular" today is putting music back a step almost every day, for those dumb enough to listen to it. Not to mention how many unreal musicians/bands are out there. Look into the "jam" band(that term sucks) scene and music is alive as hell, every next band is more talented than the next, rock is not what it used to be but there are plenty of damn good bands out there, jazz is always the shit. How or why people waste their time giving a **** about what the so called artists in the top 100 are saying is beyond me.

I like music that pushes the limit, whether it be in time, chord structure, complexity, anything that takes music Furthur. For example I hate Tom Petty cause he does none of that. Personal preference, but when going to see a band I don't want to see guys go over a rehearsed setlist over 2 hours, sure all the songs will be rehearsed, but what happens during those songs and after the rehearsed parts is what music is, give me 3 hours of songs where you don't know whether their gonna fall on their face or lift me off the ground. And any band thats good enough to do that usually lifts you off the ground.

I hear what you're saying! I'm a musician too (guitar, bass, crappy keyboards).

You mention Top 100. Well, I think the seventies was an great decade for "rock 'n roll", but if I'm certainly not referring to some of the crap in the Top 100 - like "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree", or maybe "The Night Chicago Died".

One of the biggest problems with todays "Hit" music today beside the inability to come up with an original melody is the way its recorded. God almighty, when you see what the Beatles did with only two and four tracks, and what music was created with only eight and compare that with garage bands that have 64 tracks available...

Music today sounds crappy - the guitars, bass and drums are all compressed and mixed together so that there is no definition to the instruments. Take Nickelback, for example (oh how I hate that band)... They smoosh all their sound together, and put the vocals way out front masking the tones of their instruments. I can't listen to it.

Here's a good article - "The Death of High Fidelity":

http://wilburland.blogspot.com/2007/12/ ... elity.html

Also - another big difference - in the "old days", singles actually had guitar lead intros sometimes or guitar leads in the break of a song. That is gone. Same with keyboards.

But there is great music out there if you look - but it isn't in the Top 100 chart.

Along with that I chuckle when I hear the term "musicians" used to desribe some of the bands today. They are not even on the same planet as the musicians who dominated the music scene in the 60's and 70's like Clapton, Page, Santan and so on. The art of becoming prolific at playing an instrument seems to be dead.

It true, but the bands who I consider awesome are on the same planet and possibly better than those because...they learned from them. I mean I could talk music for the rest of my life, and I understand music isn't life for everyone, but everyone does listen to some form of it and the fact that most listen to dogshit pains me.

There's lots of good musicians out there - that's not what we are really talking about.

What is irritating is the co called "crap" we hear daily that is so devoid of creativity and making so-so artists very, very rich.

Wow... guess this is my WTF?

So many "experts" on what musicianship and creativity really is.

I've always believed that music, in some sense, serves the listener in that if an individual gets something out of a song (regardless of genre or style) than who am I to judge it? If someone wants to listen to top 40 because it makes them feel good than how does that music not have value?

Music is a subjective and personal thing... anyone imposing a set of rigid standards on what is really talent and creativity removes any talent and creativity that makes it up.

I love how some folk's personal tastes in music supercede all others.

I may not care for Nickelback but it has just become so trendy/hip to rip on a band that is making ridiculous amounts of money because there's a larger group of people who do enjoy their stuff. I'm sure Chad Kroeger wipes away the tears from all his hater's comments with $100 bills while at the same time is allowed to pretty much write whatever he wants because the label is too busy counting their cut to care. Yeah, that must suck.

I agree. I listen to and enjoy all types of music and am sure I would get bashed for it. Most of my friends have such a narrow view and will only listen to certain genres. Why would anyone want to limit themselves. I have everything on my iPod. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Contemporary, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Rap, Country, Euro Trash, Jazz, Singers & Swingers. Variety is the spice of life. When I'm "In The Mood" I'll even listen to a Little Glen Miller.

There are no rigid standards on creativity or talent, its either there or not to me. When the most popular music is that of some guy yelling with no attempt at singing, with no backing music, and crappy lyrics, sure some people may find that creative in someway but I don't see it at all.

If you're referring to the preceeding posts, then instead of viewing them as "expert" opinions, read them as "some people who post on forums" opinions. Thats the way I look at it.

I agree. That's why we have more than one song in the world... :D

I certainly wouldn't want a "set of rigid standards" ! Talent and creativity is probably the most subjective topic we can discuss. I'm a visual artist too - I don't like boundaries and in general I don't like art critics. Either you like it or you don't.

I love how some folk's personal tastes in music supercede all others.

Thank goodness we all have different tastes. When I'm alone in the house and want to listen to some good music, my personal taste indeed does supersede all others.

I may not care for Nickelback but it has just become so trendy/hip to rip on a band that is making ridiculous amounts of money because there's a larger group of people who do enjoy their stuff.

Okay, I used the wrong word. I don't "hate" Nickelback - I just hate listening to them.

Surely, I shouldn't be forced to like them?

Chad can do anything he wants with his money. His music still sucks to my ears. I can write and paint whatever I want too. Sure, I miss the $100 bills but money isn't everything. :D
