As much as I love Toews... there HAS to be a reason he did this. Anyone know?

I am surprised the Sharks only got a 4 minute power play.

It should have been:

2: Boarding

2: Instigating

2: Unsportsmanlike - Instigating with a visor

5: Fighting

10: Misconduct (don't 3 minor penalties in one play = 10?)

Thornton did not embellish at all...

What the **** was he so butthurt about?

Oh maybe years of abuse from Joe...including a concussion. That and kicking them while they are down.

Add "risking both his and the team's future" to the top of that list of bad.

So that's a reason to put your team on a (should be 6) 4 minute penalty kill?

Pick your spots.

Like I said, obviously the game turned out in the Hawks favor but lets not wear blinders and use only hindsight.

Had Carcillo done the same thing and it was a 6 minute PP for the Sharks and they scored and won the game, Carcillo would be crucified.

Sharks have been playing like junk and fragile....a great spot to kick them when they are down. Also might get them to get off their game next Friday as well. The risk was not that great at this time.

Joe is not a fighter and not willing to risk a bruise on his knuckles to further bring down his already low chances of scoring.

Do you think it would be a wise idea to go up to the biggest guy in the bar and start a fight with him for no reason?

I made my feelings heard in the game thread. Not that it matters what I think. Glad nothing negative came out of it with regards to JT getting hurt and maybe Toews got his personal issues out a little. To me it was all about personal matters and nothing to do with team matters. Sometimes that happens and as much as I didn't like it nothing bad came out of it other than JT not looking like someone who could stand toe to toe with Joe in a one on one fight. But anyone with any sense of reality and who wasn't suffering from little man syndrome already knew this.

Anyone who thinks Thornton is going to change his game and his attitude towards the Hawks and Toews in the future because of this? Not going to happen. Sorry seen it a million times with Thornton. Nothing changes with this guy and why would it? If anything it's going to make Joe a bigger cheap shot artist next time we play them.

Toews doesn't intimidate anyone bigger than him...not many on this team do. Toews makes his best impressions and intimidates when he is winning board battles, scoring goals, setting up goals, back checking like crazy, driving nets, winning face offs, killing penalties etc etc. Fighting isn't on his resume. Shouldn't be..never has been..doesn't need to be.

They don't work the body in NHL fights biscuit. Every player reacts differently from head trauma, it can something as minor as a small collision that looks innocent enough, where he doesn't even hit the ice. A situation where the guy is going to be swinging at your head, why even take the chance?

When was the last time Joe pummeled anyone in a fight? Even land a solid punch? JT knew what he was doing.

And Toews takes a bigger risk from the regular amount of checking he gets in a game. Guess he should only play on the bench...wait a puck can still hit him there.

It is not like he was going up against a real fighter anymore.

Nails Doughty a few times. Joe def likes to grapple more but he can hit hard if he gets your head down like he does with drew. Fucking cheap fighter as much as he is a cheap player.

Joes not taking points. He has done this his entire career.

No, that's simply more reason to NOT further (willingly) allow the opportunity for a concussion to happen. That's within his control, he can control that risk. It's dumb. There's no defending it. It doesn't matter what kind of player he's going up against, all it takes is one swing. And then was it fucking worth it? No. No fight is ever worth that risk to yourself, to the Hawks. Never.

So JT should play scared and try to never take a hit anymore in any game? Happens far more often to him than a punch.
