The buyouts, two of them can occur this summer or the summer of 2014. After that there are NO buyouts and the club would be on the hook for 2/3rds of the existing salary.

This years Salary Cap is 70 million. By next year each club must be below 64.3 million.

Contracts are 7 years for UFA signings, and 8 if they sign with the same team.

The CBA will go for 10 years with Mutual opt out at 8.

and a couple of other things...

Realignment will not be discussed this year.

Realignment doesn't bother me in the slightest.

As long as they do a better job on keeping head injuries down, no new franchises (contract if anything) and give back to the fans some how (won't happen) I'll be happy.

Im confused are buyouts being eliminated all together after 2014?

Im baffled by the deal to be honest. This doesn't seem like something that should have taken half the season to agree on. Seems pretty fair for both sides if you ask me. Cap hit going down that much is certainly going to effect a lot of players and their contracts but it wasn't long ago that players were still making absurd amount of money under a smaller cap in the past.

Montedor will play left wing of course. You forget who is coaching this team?

I forgot about Rosival signing. Wish I could forget about it again.

The cap will be the same as it was in 11/12...and teams will be able to buyout bad contracts. Hawks will be in a decent position.

TCD they can buy out "TWO" contracts. Either this summer, or next. After that there are NO buyouts.

Opening season 2013-14 teams must be at 64.3 mil. Up to that point the Cap is 70 mil.

That was to protect those few teams, IE the Wild who spent out the ass for Parise and Suter. That team is fucked come next season.

That's really interesting about the buy outs. That's going to put a lot of pressure on Management and fiscal spending. I like it. 2 buyouts only is going to be tricky for some teams. This is all going to be extremely interesting and should add fuel to league trading. Which is always fun.

Yup Wild fucked themselves by signing both those guys.

Not at all, the Wild will be in okay shape for 13/14. They will have $13.1m in cap space to fill 6 to 7 spots; that is not that tight.

But MIN will have UFA's Backstrom, Cullen, Bouchard....Clutterbuck a RFA,...while having only Suter, Gilbert and Stoner signed on D

So while they'll be 13mil under the cap - they're going to have several holes to fill.

Hawks will have RFA's in Leddy, Kruger and Bickell...and Stalberg as the only major UFA

The Wild fucked?

Granlund, Zucker, Coyle, and Dumba will be on entry level contracts in 2013-14. They make Hawks prospects look like chump change.

They are going to have four UFA's that want big money. One of them their goalie. Specially with the new way UFA contracts are given. Shorter years will make guys want more money.

They are at 69 million right now.

Why do they need to cut 2 blueliners? Don't you need a 7th man even if the Hawks have someone like Olsen on the farm? Get rid of Rozival and that would be fine. Unless they can deal Hammer for something whats the point in cutting 2 blueliners out of 8? None of these guys are really expensive in the big picture. Only thing that sucks about Montey is the contract length for a guy thats not going to make it through full seasons anymore. Good thing this year isn't a full season.

But dont waste a buy out on Rozival thats for sure. Might have to on Montey eventually but I bet you can find a deal for him

Buyouts cannot be used until this June. Rozival is on a one year contract. Won't be wasting a buyout on him.

I'm guessing the buyouts will be Olezs and then see how Hossa plays this season. If he's good to go, then instead of buying that out it could be a traded contract. Then Frolik could be the other buyout candidate.

With the current Cap at 70 the Hawks are 6 million under.

I agree, RK. Olesz is a "no brainer"

Depending on how this season goes...Hossa may be on the clock.

And with the 8 d-men...Hjarllmarsson and his 3.5mil may be gone as well shortly.
