I'll get Shakespeare on that right away, after all I do dig the Bard, but in the meantime what was your Maddon point because all I read in the piece were things he's said a dozen times before.
Just beacuse you have read it doesn't mean others have

We have no idea what Kyle will be nor where he will play nor if he is now basically a DH/1B player.

I also liked the business talk in the other thread that shows this deal to be a no brainer if the financials are correct.

I'm not saying do it, but to say it has no merit is foolish.

He tore his ACL. He isnt an NFL running back. He is going to be fine. lol This isnt the 1960's

Again, you made a point about Maddon that you said the piece illustrates but you have yet to make the point. There is clearly something you disapprove of. I'm all ears.
In the article it states his strategy,

What are some names of clutch, veteran hitters that we can acquire? We can't go into the post season with a zillion young guys expecting to have great situational hitting. We need to bring in a tough, seasoned vet who can hit with RISP.

Beltran is the ultimate if that's what you want. To maximize any value he would have to play a lot of LF which takes away Maddon's voodoo.

On a Cubs team that can't hit a sacrifice fly, go opposite field or bunt well Beltran fixes a lot of that. Insert Beltran into that 9th inning cluster **** last night and we would have won

Here is an excerpt from the game tonight describing why Beltran would be that #1 target position player:

"Carlos Beltran, tops on everyone's list to be an ex-Yankee if the fire sale does materialize, belted a home run, too, his 20th, in the eighth inning. But it was his push bunt up the third-base line for a base hit, foiling the shift, in the sixth inning that really got everyone's attention. It is the kind of thing Teixeira refuses to try and Brian McCann, another frequent shift victim, is incapable of pulling off, but it showed that even a veteran like Beltran is neither too proud nor too stubborn to lay one down for the team.

There's never a guarantee of winning a playoff game so you essentially just said "water is wet".

Its a tough call. We basically picked up another guy throwing like Travis Wood is throwing. We also have Warren in Limbo, who I would trust more than Cahill. Montgomery and Wood each would be used for one hitter, still leaves a spot that Miller could fill. If they are still talking Miller AND Chapman, we might see Rondon also getting moved now that Vogie is not in the mix.

You mistake me as someone who said do the deal.

OK, off topic Brett but curious to know what you make of this. Apparently a team has offered your White Sox a "king's ransom" for Sale and they turned it down. A good guess would be Boston. What if they went back to Boston and offered Quintana and Frazier for Moncada and Devers? I'f I were the White Sox I'd make that deal. The White Sox would have a strong young core of Anderson, Moncada and Devers and still have Sale, Rodon and Fulmer. I'm pretty sure Dombrowski would make that deal as well as it probably puts them way out front in the Division and likely makes them the best team in the AL. Would you do it?

If they are looking for someone who is shutdown for a 1 inning 7th/8th inning type of guy, why not Ryan Madson? Unless they want a 3rd LHRP, then that leaves Miller as the main option.
