Kenny needs to win this Cespedes battle because he hasn't "won" very much this offseason. Would show that he still wants to compete this year, which he says he does.

I haven't heard much about him. He's a little old isn't he? Guess you couldn't consider him a prospect.

No. They are not similar in any way other than that both hit for power in a foreign country, but otherwise completely different playing styles and levels of athleticism.

Thanks, but I wasn't really referring to their styles. I'm talking about their hype, the suitors involved, and then the over payment. Finally, the lack of production in the Bigs.

He's closer to Alexei than Fukudome... as the difference between going from Cuba to the States is less than Japan to the States as far as adapting.

Fukudome was past his peak when the Cubs signed him.

For a team trying to cut payroll, "Rebuild" and already have a high priced CF'er, I find it highly unlikely that they will pay 10-12M for a guy that they have no idea how his skills will transfer to the MLB.

I agree. Like I said in another thread, I'd like to see them go after the younger Soler. He looks like he could be a better player in the long run and at only 19, he could pan out much better than Cespedes IMO.

Glad both the Sox and Cubs are in the running for this supposed 26 y.o. who may not pan out in the majors -- gives us something to talk about, anyway.

I get the feeling that baseball on both sides of chicago is gonna be tough to watch this yr :(

3rd largest market and both teams look like they will suck. I wish this city could be elite with sports instead just jokes.
